Peloquin LSD
Got off the phone with Gary today and based on the size of the case along with the fact the the carrier is put in at a 45* angle for R&R there is no way to build a real limited slip. Basically it is phantom grips or nothing.
I did the lsd swap and I do not understand the 45 degree statement. It is more interesting that MB never designed a cone type posi unit for their cars. However, if a "driver" were to get on it in a turn and broke the rear loose, it would really go around like my Challenger and so it does make some sense for STREET cars.
Gotta admit I was a little wigged out as I had never gotten into a MB rear end and it was interesting. I have monitored the diff fluid to see that it does not have any metallic tramp metal in it. This winter Iam thinking of popping the cover to see if I can see any wear signs on the Phantomgrip and to just do a post race season wellness check up.
Woody, enjoy

augh...I don't believe it! I'm not sure what Gary means. I wonder if it is related to the "small diff case" vs "large diff case" that mercedes uses.

Here is a picture with a red line indicating the problem spot. Basically the carrier is slid in at an angle and held in with C clips, vs the more traditional straight bolting in like Ford,Chevy, Dodoge. The angle insertion cuts away from the size the carrier needs(vs straight push in installation) to be inorder to fit more gears for the LSD unit
