Default Limited Slip Differential

I want to know the pro and cons of these 4 types of LSD's. I use my SRT6 as a fair weather driver and for occasional track day use. May be 4 times a year.

Phantom Grip, Kleemann 60% LSD, Giken 100% LSD and Drexler Racing 100% LSD.

Also is there an upgraded LSD fluid available?

Thanks.

So our SRT's come with open differentials, which is like a full posi? or no... maybe someone can better describe this to me. I think our rears spin the same all the time, both sides. That is about as far as my knowledge goes. I am assuming the LSD is better for track racing, but wouldn't our stockers be better for drag?

The two LSD's for the Crossfire that I have seen described on here are the Quaif and Phantom Grip. Woody(Waldig) has the PG on his car.

Both wheels do not spin equally this is the point of a LSD to make them spin equally... if you go and do a big burnout right now... your driver's side tire will spin a heck of a lot more than your passenger side.

i.e. in 5,000 miles or so, my driver's side rear tire has at least 1/32 less tread than the passenger side tire. (just took the summer's off for winter's)

The only to artificial LSD's that I know of are Phantom Grip, and Quaife. Waldig has phantom grip on his, get his opinion on it. I hadn't heard about Kleeman making a LSD for our cars, and haven't heard of the other two companies in relation to anything MB or SRT6.... Kleeman always charges an arm and a leg too, not worth it IMO.

Open differential on both SR6 and Base/Limited.

This means that the side with the least amount of traction gets all the torque. It is not a full posi.

The ESP uses the brakes to attempt to limit slip between wheels, but this can easily be overcome by the engine's torque.

To my knowledge the Quaife is a high end true/full LSD. However they do not make one to fit the Crossfire rear end. A lot of people wish they did however.

The Kleeman is very similar if not the same as the PG. The Kleeman is just more expensive. Look at Kleeman's website and PG's website. Both companies use springs and square metal blocks to "engage" both rear axles to try to eliminate the peg leg. I guess it can be described as an artificial LSD? Talk to Woody, he has a PG installed and really seems to like it.

Quaife is not a true LSD, it is still artificial just like the PG.

Yes the PG is artifical LSD. It is not a full LSD but only locks up something like 90%...

let me know if you decide to buy a PG...they did a group buy a while back, and I am interested in buying one, so the more they sell, the less we pay kind of thing...there are threads on it....do a search on phantom grip....

HowStuffWorks "How Differentials Work"

Pretty good info there. I am a bit better informed now.

woody have you opened the differential and checked those ring gears? I wonder how much heat builds between the plates and rings and what kind of wear that causes.
