Default Satin Black?

I have been toying with the idea of having my Dodge Charger painted Satin Black. If you have not seen this color, it is basically a flat black color and reminds me of the old Stealth Bombers. I recently was sent this picture from a buddy of mine who saw this Lexus done by Five Axis at last weeks SEMA show in Vegas. I think a SRT6 Painted this color would be incredible. What do you guys think? It would be pretty easy to find a SRT6 that as not been taken care of and try this out! It would be unique to say the least.

Satin black sort of looks like your original black paint is oxidized and not taken care of and in need of several wax jobs.... I personally like it, but I dont know ifs something I'd want to do to my baby.

I love black cars but that doesn't really do anything for me. On the other hand the Dodge Challenger color "Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl" is a paint I would love to have on my Crossfire. I saw it the other day at the dodge store and really fell in love with it.

My Charger is that color. It does not show up in pictures, but the Metallic is pretty cool in the sun.

Below is another Satin Black...this time on a new Benz. This is the look I am thinking about. Satin Black paint....Gloss back wheels.

The only reason I'd want that clolr is if I could drive through every speed trap and never get pulled over. It is different, I guess I just like things to really shine. I just reminds me of a primered car with wax????

I like the look, but I think this is just a trend that will fade soon. How many street rods are running around with peach and light blue paint jobs with tweed interiors? They got outdated real fast.

Looks "stealthy", but would be horrible for a non show car that would actually be driven. There are quite a few street rods that did this.
Scruffs, water spots, & chalking - would look bad in no time, like a "primered" finish.
There is a reason to use gloss paint for outdoor use.
IMO.

That would definitely look stealth! But, I wonder how well it would hold up to UV's? The hood of the 1970 Challenger T/A had a flat or satin black hood. Unfortunately, the ones I saw faded pretty quickly.

I think someone had so much bondo and bodywork on that Lexus that they didnt have $ for a real paint job.

Then they were at the bar with their friends and they were like, "dude, just paint it flat black and tell everyone its supposed to be like that".

Im sure youll see that depreciated lexus on ebay for $8000 in a few years.

But yea BLKFIN go ahead and paint our already rare cars with a perfect factory paintjob with that glorified "primer". I will help you this weekend, i have a few cans left over from painting my BARBQ pit.

You know that flat paint adds drag to airlfow which means you'd never get below 12's.

Gates open at 10:00am, Racing is from 11-5! We should have some cool temps so the cars should be strong! I know 240M3SRT will be there, but Sowardcustoms and SRTPower may show as well! You can borrow my helmet if you need.

It's paint not a tattoo. Not that those are even permanent anymore.

It is more than likely a clear coat with a dulling agent. I say, "More than likely," because I didn't shoot it. I guess I'm shocked at you guys for thinking that was just a primer with no protection properties. The stuffs been around for quite some time now.
