Satin Black?
Many of you might not be complete gear heads because if you were, you would know that that is a classic paint job that originated back in the '50s for hot rods. Sometimes called suede, it wasn't flat black or satin black, it was just plain, old black primer. That's all some of the kids could afford, so they'd break out some primer and some hand painted flames. It is a tough look for period correct hot rods often called (unfortunately) rat rods today. Though cool on that Lexus, that is a look that should stay on hot rods, not modern sports cars.

I've always liked "black primer"... I'm still not convinced it would work on our cars.
I believe there was a thread a while back about this where I saw and SLR in satin black and it looked sick! But... I'm still on the fence

opinion noted. i would just like to go on the record as saying "if YOU love it, go for it!" passions and 'likes' are based on so many external, familial and environmental experiences. not everyone will adhere to the same tastes, and that is FINE. it's what makes our world colorful. if you like flat black......go ahead and paint it..... eventually, We all die, and it won't matter.
I thnk it would only work for a roadster. Something about the lines of the coupe with that kind of paint job would make it look "off". I think the sleakness of the roadster would enhance this kind of paint job. You couldn't keep the stock suspension. Definitely lowered with rims would set it off.
If you guys want to know what your car would look like with a flat paint job just open your hood. I actually like the flat/satin graphite color of my engine bay.
I just did a little bit of research and they do make a "matte clear" for protection of the paint.
