370z?
I hate Zs so much now. I used to like them. Now every time I see one I cringe. Not sure if SRT6 will beat it or not... they are not turbo or supercharged either. And I read it has a carbon fiber drive shaft... lol. They really wanted to cut weight I guess. I hope 6s will crush them, please!
I've had a bunch of Z cars up to the 300ZX and I just don't care for the last two versions. The 370 is a bit nicer than the 350 but they still can't touch us in the looks department. As for can we beat one? Don't care I know we look better and that's all that matters to me.
Saw the stats on this today. 0-60 in 5 seconds and low 13's. Stock for stock it would be close. What really intrigued me was the 6speed rev match manual transmission and available 7 speed auto. Wonder what that is like? Sounds like a good performance car for the money.

don't sweat it, unless boosted, this car still does not get much better with bolt-ons. it runs such high compression, it's hard to squeeze much more out of it. and i've already heard that exhaust and intakes will be just like the previous model - adding 'minimal' 2-3hp gains. could just be rumors though. so don't jump all over me just yet....
Just some more comments from a month ago.

I have had a 300zx and 350z, i do really like them and i think the new one is hot. Its deffinately not an ugly car! Its great value for money as well. The 350Z was abit slow for my liking but it seems as though the 370Z has purpose again. The stats are very similiar with our cars minus a SC and less torque. It should be a good race but based on stats i would think the Xfire would win.
My buddy who's a salesman at a Nissan dealer called me in to check out the first 370z they got in. Absolutely gorgeous car just a bit pricey. The one they had was $34k- then again the new STi's are close to 40k now. Just makes the SRT-6 an even sweeter deal.
Stock for stock I'm assuming they'd be very close. However it's normally aspirated thus doesn't respond to mods as well. There's no pulley/intake to miraculously get it into mid 12's.
Despite the change in exterior style I feel the interior made the biggest upgrade. It's definitely much higher-scale inside. More like a late model CTS with the leather wrapped dash.
EDIT: sorry for the silly orientation of the images- I just dragged/dropped them off the iPhone.

I like the new 370Z but love my SRT-6 so much more with all it's torque. A few simple bolt-ons with both cars makes the SRT-6 so much faster. Can't wait to line up against one at the track. I just fear the Nissan GTR's right now...Someone is running ten's at the Orlando track with some simple bolt-ons....Yikes!
Yeah those things are monsters. 11.6 bone-stock. It's still amazing that Distantpulse is running 2/10th behind with his SRT on street tires no less! Get a less experienced GTR driver at the track and Chris would take him.
Totally O/T, but ...I always wondered what a blown Z06 w/ slicks would run. 9's?

I'm seriously considering buying a 370Z when they hit the UK in early 2009. I won't be queuing up becuase early adopters don't get the deals, but I will be taking a test drive and we'll see what the trade-in offer is from there.
I love my SRT-6 and it stills draws admiring glances but I'm getting increasingly concerned about spares. I have a Chrysler full warranty until Jan 2010; so what's the worry you may well ask? Well, I've had a noisy water pump now for two months and Chrysler UK are unable to find a replacement. Yes I know it has to come from MB and if I had a 2006SLK 320 AMG with the same problem, then I would have had it sorted with 24 hours. But if my Gran had have had *****, she'd have been my Grandad!
I don't have an MB; I have an SRT6 and it even took four days for a replacement alternator. What's it going to be if something major goes wrong? Let's face it - if the water pump had failed (and it could at any time) I'd have been off the road for over eight weeks now.
Economics allowing, I change my car every three years to avoid problems with breakdowns etc. It's hassle-free motoring and I know I pay a price for this in depreciation but, for now, that's my choice. So, the SRT would have been under consideration for a change in 2010 anyway. Events may accelerate this. The Infiniti G37S is also on the list but Infiniti aren't launching the brand in the UK until mid 2009, and the way things are going this may be even later.
Cheers

I test drove a 350Z and was dissapointed. I hated the interior! It felt very cheap for a 33k car. Performace was ok, nothing special. I'm so glad I went with the 6!
I can not stand the 350z, they are everywhere you look and I am tired of seeing them. A few of my friends have them and none of them are fast. The 370z will be the same way, there will be a billion of them running around which will make them too common and when a car is too common it no longer interests me at all. Who wants to drive something that everyone else has?
~ the new 370z looks really nice to me when complimented with the sport pkg and 19" rims... this is a car i may consider in may when i'm in the market for my replacement car.
