I finally decided to see if my InMotion tune removed any speed limiting functions. Yep. I went 165@6000 rpm. Seriously, that was on a decent incline. The car seemed to still have more. On flat ground I wonder what it would get up to.

I am assuming 5th. I was wide open throttle and not listening to how many gear changes took place. The car was suprisingly well mannered. It actually felt more stable than the 130 range.

Dude, you had to be in fourth gear. I've had mine to 186 mph and was still a little under 6,000 RPM. When I let off it was still pulling and was amazingly solid ( stuck to the road ).

Just a conservative 120mph over the Platt Bridge in Philly.

150 with the SRT6 and 140 with the roadster. In both cases I ran out of safe highway before they topped out.

Steve;
This is why I said your 186 is VERY questionable.
When I had mine at 174 there was NO WAY there was enough left to get the type of numbers your claiming! 186 yes but it will be screeming RPM wise.
Hell just do the math and what you claim cannot be done! You said you were running taller tires, if thats the case you were QUESTIMATING on the speed. Sorry that doesn't fly.
Summers coming and as I said before we'll have to go for it since it appears my 174 and your 186? are the highest registered. So the time to name the top end king is coming.

130 and still pulling hard. I once easily did just over 100 on a 4 mile long 7% uphill grade. Fairly safe too, with concrete barriers on both sides and no cars in sight.

Mike, I held the pedal to the floor till the speedometer hit the 180 mph mark. At this site : http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp?item=Wheel-Tire%20size%20comparer&showRim1=1&showTire1=1&sw1= 255&ar1=35&bd1=19&rd1=19&rw1=9.0&et1=35&showRim2=1 &showTire2=1&sw2=285&ar2=35&bd2=19&rd2=19&rw2=9.5& et2=35&text1=OEM%20255`s&text2=%20285`s
it say's that at 60 mph with the 285's I would be doing 62 mph, witch at 180 mph on the speedometer I would have been doing 186 mph. I was busy watching the speedometer and the road, I gave the tach a quick look and I'm sure it was just below 6,000.

I hit 170MPH on a flat desert road with my OEM tires (PS2's) and was still below the tach redline. I feel 180MPH is no problem and even 190+ MPH might be possible - if you have the right road conditions.

I was more interested in my peak IAT - but like Steve said - at that speed your watching the road and just feeling the car out - no real time to study the gauges.

Data logger whould have come in handy...... PEAK IAT was around 165*F

Conditions: Flat, two lane road - blacktop - in excellent condition

I dialed Mohave Airport AWOS prior to the run -

Temp: 10.2 Deg C - - 50.4 deg F
Dew Point: 0.3 Deg C - - 32.5 deg F
Relative Humidity: 53%
Skies: OVC 080
Altimeter: 30.04 in mercury
Corrected elevation 2,358 feet ASL

Run one = 165MPH
Run two = 170MPH

Much HP is required to get above 160, I don't think with the CD of our cars that even 500 HP would get above 175. Physics are physics, would need to do some calculations on what HP numbers would be required to get above 175 on a 0% grade.

I suppose I could have been still in 4th. These transmissions don't quickly get into 5th with the pedal on the floor. I was on a decent uphill grade. I probably won't try it again untill I install my Zietronix. I was too busy watching the road and my Valentine1 to notice what gear I was in.

Were these readings based on the speedometer or a GPS unit? the only way to find out how fast you're really going is by a radar gun or GPS.

Our CD is .384 if anyone wanted to know

With that kind of head wind against you, you have to let up on the pedal a little before it will shift. I know I opened up my 04 coupe and if I kept the pedal on the floor it wouldn't shift out of fourth. I had it up to the high 140's a couple times. I don't recall if I had to let up on the SRT 6 to get it to shift out of fourth or not.

I would hate to think a car manufacture would build a car with the speedometer off, I would think they would be getting sued by people all the time for getting stopped for speeding. Of course at high speeds like 150 to 200, I would think it could be off 1 or 2 mph.
