Stock which is faster SRT-6 or 8?
I couldnt find any info on a comparison between the SRT 6 and 8, im interested to know the difference in power between the two, 0-100 and 1/4. Has anyone ever had the chance to go head to head with one?
I am pretty sure the SRT6 is faster than the Magnum, Challenger and Charger..... I have seen them....
no expierence with the 300C or Grand Cherokee....

SRT8 Magnum ran a 156 at the Texas Mile to my 155mph he was at the top of his rev limiter, mine hit 1/8 mile before the end. SRT6 got there faster.
SRT8 Jeep ran 146 in the mile
SRT8 Charger ran 148 in the mile
The SRT6 was faster than all of them.

I used to own a 6 and 8 at the same time...............my charger ran a 13.5@102 bone stock and the 6 ran a 12.85@109(with SL55 intake as only mod). With heads/cam/intake/exhaust/tune I ran 12.8 @109 with a 2.0 60' in the Charger.
All times were at LVMS with an elevation of 2200feet and a DA of at least 3400'

I wasnt aware of the different SRT8s on the market. The one im curious about is the 300C SRT8, which is the only SRT8 we get in Australia.

All the SRT-8s perform within .1 to .2 tenths of a second bone stock in the 1/4 mile. The cars(magnum,charger,300,challenger) weigh in very close to the same.........and the Jeep has all wheel drive which makes for better launching(0-60) but hinders its performance up top.

the previous owner of my srt-6 also owned a 300 SRT-8. He was an experienced drag racer who raced turbo buicks, but only put a few passes on the 6 and 8.
he said in the 1/8 one would win, and in the 1/4 the other car would win. i don't remember which way it was though, all i know is they were close.
i'd say its definitely a drivers race.

For what it's worth, here are some magazine times for various SRT models:
300C SRT-8, Road & Track Magazine June, 2005 issue: 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.2 seconds.
Charger SRT-8, Motor Trend December 2005, 5.0 and 13.5.
Magnum SRT-8, Car & Driver September 2005, 5.1 and 13.6
Jeep SRT-8, Motor Trend February 2006, 4.8 and 13.5
Challenger SRT-8, Road & Track July 2008, 4.7 and 13.0
Challenger SRT-8, Car & Driver December 2007, 4.8 and 13.2
Car & Driver tested the Crossfire SRT-6 in August 2004 and got 0-60 in 5.1 and 1/4 mile in 13.3.
In Road & Track's shootout with the Crossfire SRT-6, Nissan 350Z and Porsche Boxster S they got 0-60 in 4.8 and 1/4 mile in 13.3 for the SRT-6
It looks like they're all pretty close, so depending on driver, track prep, tires, weather, altitude, etc it should be a crap shoot. Nice thing is with a boosted car you can easily add more boost and be faster. All those SRT-8s are naturally aspirated so it takes a bit more to add power.

There's a guy online who supposedly ran a "stock" 300 SRT-8 at our local (Atco Raceway) track and pulled a 12.87 & 110

When our 6 & 8 were both stock.... from a dead stop I would take it about a half car till about 95 where she would pass me and keep slowly pulling, I had just a little bit better tires (275/40 proxes to her stock) though. Thru the gears her midrange is stronger, but my top end pulled back on the 8.
Stock srt6 vs lightly modded srt8...read the video description and see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw3k72e726M
The film started right after the third honk and it jumped on me a bit, but not for long. After the video we put 285/30 proxes on the 6 and it could get a jump on my 275/40s off the line everytime.
I need to make another video because now we are even again with her Needswing CAI added vs all the mods I've done to my SRT8. Same story as stock, the 6 pulls me midrange thru the gears and I pull back on top end.
The $ per horsepower gained on the 6 beats the 8's anyday though, no question about that...
i just bought a limited 6speed and it seems way to fast for wut it is i drove a srt8 challenger and it felt the same as my car the dealer even told me thaought mine felt faster im guessing theres things done to it that i dont know about the dealership said it was bone stock but i done believe it is cuz i raced a rt challenger and it didnt stand a chance im trying to get pics of my car

Factory freaks do happen from time to time. There's a guy on the PT Cruiser forum I frequent who has the same very light mods to his car that several of us do. We all run 14.2 to 14.4 in the 1/4 mile at various tracks around the county, all with automatic transmissions. His car runs consistant 13.3~13.4 times, also with an automatic.

She definately gets the holeshot on me though with just a needwings and with 285/30s. That was before she totalled the black 6.
Machine gray 06 has been babied it's whole life so far! I haven't properly broken that steed in yet, but it has a bit planned for her in the future...
I've been saving money to throw heads and cam on my 8 first though so I can get it down in the low 12's before it hits the bottle. Then we'll do a pulley or stacked pulleys on hers maybe...no rush during the winter.
All said and done I've spent over $3000 on my bolt ons and installation so far and have a vehicle equal to hers with a simple Needwings CAI. The performance potential is in these 6's still! Someone needs to slap on a larger whipple!!!! I still haven't heard of anyone blowing an srt6 engine yet pushing it, can't say the same for the 8's though. I don't want to be the first with her rare car though...lol!

That video isn't really a fair fight and doesn't show the true nature of the 6 beast. Anything modified vs unmodified is going to have that result. We'll have to throw up a new one in the future and take it on a quarter mile track instead.
