If multiple car magazines are gettinng similar results with all the LX cars, Challenger included - which is to be expected, really - then to me that's just further proof that what forum members have witnessed is down to poor track prep, drivers who don't quite know their cars yet, or a combination of other factors. I can see the R/T editions of these cars struggling to reach 13 seconds because I've outrun other HEMI LX cars with my PT even when I probably shouldn't have.

Some of the lx guys do tend to think the 300's and mags are faster than the chargers tho for some reason. I dunno...

When our 6 & 8 were both stock.... from a dead stop I would take it about a half car till about 95 where she would pass me and keep slowly pulling, I had just a little bit better tires (275/40 proxes to her stock) though. Thru the gears her midrange is stronger, but my top end pulled back on the 8.
Stock srt6 vs lightly modded srt8...read the video description and see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw3k72e726M
The film started right after the third honk and it jumped on me a bit, but not for long. After the video we put 285/30 proxes on the 6 and it could get a jump on my 275/40s off the line everytime.
I need to make another video because now we are even again with her Needswing CAI added vs all the mods I've done to my SRT8. Same story as stock, the 6 pulls me midrange thru the gears and I pull back on top end.
The $ per horsepower gained on the 6 beats the 8's anyday though, no question about that...

The track, elevation and DA is what hindered my Chargers(and all of my cars' times). I was(and still hold the "record") the fastest local LX to race out here. My buddy has a modded Magnum SRT-8 which has run a best of 13.2@104 here at LVMS and he came with me to Famoso to race and instantly dropped to a 12.7@109 with a 1600DA(instead of 3000-6000DA). You could shave another .1-.2 if it was a negative DA day. Nobody seems to ever comprehend the differences in elevation until they come out and experience it for themselves.

Great running car and it handles great for a full size car.

Mopar, your old Charger is sharp!!!!
We had a quick chance today to take a short video. Vehicles currently modded as is listed listed in my sig & video description.

She took me on the midrange and I took her back on the top end again.

Click Here at add 150+ hp to the Magnum. So now were are over 575hp.
Not bad. - which taillights are in view? lol
I really like both cars, they are very different. I have had the Magnum up to 165 mph. They are no slouch and hit .90g on lateral acc. Not bad for a full size wagon.

All the posative are not on one side - people hauling is not the only thing the SRT8s do better. Look at the brakes - the SRT8s typically test a 10ft 60-0 better stop than the SRT6s -quite a feat considering size. The Brembos are amazing on the 8s. Tranny is the same so no difference there.
Either way BOTH can be a blast to drive. I like both.
I guess this proves the fact that pigs can fly.
Its the fastest LX on dragtimes.

Wow- that's awesome. What does a kit like that cost?!
Btw, I DO feel the SRT-8's have a bit of an advantage over the 6.....the produce the power they do NORMALLY ASPIRATED. As soon as you boost them it'll be difficult for an SRT-6 even with basic bolt-ons to keep up.
Dragtimes rarely has the fastest time. The lx forums list is much better..... http://lxforums.com/board/timeslips.php
Although a trailer queen, speedfactory's charger is no slouch 10.35 @137.
Here's a video of it running 10.62 @ 134.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4Lu1...layer_embedded.
Braking, oem stock setup my SRT8 brakes quicker than her SRT6. I've almost wrecked her old one myself overjudging by just a few feet when going ***** to the wall.
Cornering, the 6 will spank the 8's anyday.... no question there.
Off road, the jeep srt8 has it covered...awd stoplight sprints are deadly by the jeep too. Those things can get moving quick...
High speeds, the 6 is more stable due to the firmer suspension and aerodynamics.
Of course, there are much more plusses and minuses for each model...that's what makes us different.
But don't be confused if you think that srt8 sitting next to you is slower than you, chances are it might be off the line but it could be one bad ****.

There are also quite a few 8's out there running close to 1000hp that are fine tuning before tracks open again... I bet they'll hit 9's easy this season.... I can think of 3 vehicles off the top of my head that should be really close right now.
This is one of them... RDP's 440ci with a whipple (3.4L each, i think) for each ummm...lol...ummm bank side. ;x
