Told by the dealer putting 53 miles on my car was normal ! ! !
So I drop my car off for the 2nd time. Last time they had it for almost a month, broke my key(said they did not) and did not fix my car. Today I pick it up after 7 working days, rear rim is munched with shavings still on the tire after they washed it. The rear is still making the same noise, not a bit of difference and on top of it, 53 miles have been put on the car. The service manager came and told me it's normal and asked if I worked at a dealership and how would I know what normal was? I told him I'm not a dumb-*** and I did not need dealership qualifications to know 53 miles for a rattle is over the limit. They said they would fix the rim but were clearly ticked at having to repair my car for things they did not do. I had rim shavings on my finger after it was just washed. I showed him the rims my wife munched to be fair. I beyond pissed right now as it's making the same noise and 53 miles did not fix it.
He told me cost for him was $350 for a new key. Is this correct? Any dealership guys think 53 miles is over the top?

How about providing more information on the problem you took it in for? What is the rear noise? It sounds like they needed to drive it to hear the noise, but 53 miles does sound excessive.
Let me say, I like the dealership. They have been nice but today the service manager was clearly ticked at me as if I had done something wrong.
The noise is in the right rear, it sounds like a bolt is loose. When I go over a little bump, cut in pavement or lane divider, I get a rattle. It just sounds like something is not bolted in or tightened. They say they are replacing shocks and having to wait for the parts to come in but it sounds like a bolt somewhere is loose.

53 miles sounds like a overnight drive home where the tech doesn't lose anytime checking for rattles.....
I would be calling the owner of the dealership and raise some major hell. They are clearly not taking care of your car, breaking a key and screwing up a rim and I bet they took it out for a few joy rides and beat the shlt out of your car too.
That definitely requires a conversation with the owner and having the service manager present. He probably won't be such a smart*** at that point. And I would have to ask him if he would testify before the state's attorney that 53 miles is normal.
53 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They wore that baby out more than just a few times. Unless they drove it to another location to work on the problem, I don't see how they racked up that many miles. Even an extended test drive shouldn't be over 3-4 miles total. I guess everybody in the shop had to get their turn test driving it.
Here is a funny story Glen (Cross><Hair) told me. Well, not so funny to me, but....... Keep in mind he bought his car at the same dealership. He was talking with one of the techs there and the tech says to him "Yeah, theres this guy that has a graphite colored one that is wicked fast.....blah blah blah". I wonder who's car that could be?! Hmmmm.
I don't know why the guy would say that to a customer with the same car?? I remember taking mine in to get a noise in the ac/heat fan fixed. I dropped the car off and a young guy hopped in and immediately drove off the lot with it.
For a noise in the fan?? That was the last time I took it in......Thank god that my brother has his own shop!! I get all my service from him now and it's still covered under warranty.
Yeah, 53 miles is absurd! I would have been mighty pissed off myself!

Just got back from the dealership.
It's a rear latch, there was a TSB on 2004 Crossfires and it looks like mine suffered as well. It still does not explain 53 miles.
