Default First Road Trip - impressive fuel mileage!

Drove the SRT6 to hershey this weekend to visit a friend. Wasn't in a hurry going down so i set the cruise at 68. When I got off the pike and filled up... 33 mpg!!! Couldn't believe it. Didnt do so well on the way back, 80 most of the way and over 100 a couple times but still got 24, which is still impressive. Hard to believe 354hp and 33 mpg, damn germans! By the way, caught a lot of looks goin up the pike, including a popo but he got the cute chick in a 350z following me!

Make sure you fill it all the way next time. My roadster has never done better than 31mpg at 60-65 and driving the SRT6 steady at 70, it's tough to break 24-25mpg. I bet the fuel pump shut off early. Your return mileage -- and driving habits -- is more more normal for the SRT6.

im not a dipshit, it was full (could see gas in the spout) when i left the pump n it was full again (cound see gas again) when i checked the mileage. My work car is an avenger that is a 2.5 v6 auto n i have pushed it to 36 but my lincoln ls v8 wont ger over 21 no matter how much you squeeze it, some are better than others, the crossfire is light, small, good aerodynamics, 33 is high but 24 driving like an *** on the way home is still impressive

ROTFL. Did not mean to set you off. That's the best mileage I have seen posted, even with the non-SRT6 Crossfires. Maybe it was downhill on the way out and uphill on the way back? Anyway, try that again on another long road trip and see if you can duplicate it.

I don't have the discipline to leave it on cruise at a (low) steady speed. Michigan is 70 mph and traffic flows at 75+. I can't resist at least a couple bursts to 90-100 on my way across the state.

Happy motoring and enjoy!!

I got around 29 MPG coming back thru Lolo Pass in Montana going to Seattle on hiway 12. I was just cruising most of the way, and in no hurry. Going the other way, I was doing 125-140 on I-90 for around 100 miles, and still got 24 MPG, with the top down on my '05 Roadster.
That was a nice summertime trip to Yellowstone.

I got over 30 coming home from the mountains to Florida but my supercharger was out of order due to a cooling pump. Set the cruise at 65 the whole way, felt bad getting passed by Hybrids.

Damn. I think the best I ever got in mine was 23. I average 19. But then again, to paraphrase Sammy Haggar: I can't drive 65!

congrats on hitting 33mpg. i believe it. I hit 27mpg before in my c32 driving from los angeles to las vegas when it was stock. Given that the srt6 is lighter its very believeable.

i will try it again on my next road trip but it will be a while, owned the car two years before the first road trip and only drive it less that a thousand miles a year, but i may never be able to drive 65 with the cruise on for 200 miles, the trip back runnin 80-120 was much better
