Default SRT vs. 370z

So I saw my neighbor who I personally don't know but recognize coming up behind me in his new 370z car. We are at a stop light waiting for a green and I'm thinking to myself is he going to try me? So I put her in first and clicked off the traction control. The light turns green and he starts off a little quick so I pace him, he doesn't go for it yet so I short shift into 2nd and then the ******* goes for it! I proceed to do the same, we're dead even–even though he is still in first gear, right in his powerband. As soon as I get into mine, which was what like 2 seconds I put a car on him and he immediately backs off. The whole drive down the main street he doesn't want anything to do with me

Good to hear....!!

Every now and again I'll troll to some "Z" forum and instigate some topics. This always ended in, wait for the 370. That or the twin turbo deal, which none of them actually own.

Yea it might have, my rear tires are getting a little slick and that particular road is really rough so I might have made his and my car ugly really quick!

LOL! another kill reported. What would be funny is if we could have these little decals made up to record the kills, like roundlets of GTO, 'vette, Z4 and well, you get the point, that we paste under the window, or even across the back. bet your wife will be puzzled when she goes to borrow a cup of sugar from that neighbor and although someone is clearly at home, nobody answers the door. Good story!

Lol you better pick up some new tires then, you do not want to wreck the car due to bad tires.

You can get some nice tires from discouttiredirect.com (free shipping) or tirerack.com pretty cheap.

Nice......I dispatched a 350z 3 weeks after purchased. The guy was waiting eagerly after seeing me in the RT6 at opposite red light and i had already gotten like 25. mile on him. Here he comes.....first he rides me then he gets the courage to do a fly by. I let it go because I was still babying my baby 3 weeks in, so i let it go. Unfortunately for him we get a red light. 1-2nd pulled him easily so i stopped..thenl we merge to interstate and he nails it like 2 cars ahead....which I was being held up behind cars. Finally room presented itself, lets just say he got walked down in an instant and left to see the shaking of my head. The guy wouldnt pass me the whole ride down interstate.

Only a car with an intake and exhaust?

370z's are fast as hell. Should run straight up with a stock SRT-6 in a straight line, and absolutely obliterate it in the corners.

I test drove on and wrote a big review of it on another forum. I suggest you guys all go take one for a drive. Fantastic car.

Maybe if both cars were stock it would be a little different. They perform pretty close together and your mods would definitely have made the difference for sure.

I left work early a couple of weeks ago and stopped by the Nissan dealership. I was immediately approached by a very young salesman and offered a test drive-ALONE! He saw my roadster and figured I was a safe bet.

Nice car, but way too tight in the cockpit for me. I actually have to keep my neck bent to fit. Nice fit and finish-very busy seeming interior. Much, much faster than my Ltd. I've never driven an SRT, so I can't compare. Heckuva car for the sticker.

He handed me the very last GTR sales booklet from the shelf. I think he got in hot water for that -the sales manager was speaking to him as I drove away. That booklet is probably worth $10.

I'll save it for ten years and sell it on eBay!

My issue with 370z is its natural aspirated. Ya spend $35-$40k on a car then the next $3000 in mods gets ya maybe 15-20 more hp. $3000 in mods on an srt6 gets ya 100 hp. Doubt well see any 370's going low 12's or high 11's in the 1/4 with no boost. Add boost and now ya have a $50K 370z. For that price theres a lot better cars out there.

My friend is a Nissan salesman at a local dealer in town. I occasionally stop in to say hi. When I did recently he had a 370z and asked me if I wanted to drive it. Of course I obliged.

This chain of dealers in S.Jersey actually has a closed test track to drive the car on- kind of a mini road course...very cool!

To make a long story short I was NOT impressed with the new Z, at least in regards to acceleration. It's does handle INCREDIBLY well but it feels lethargic at full throttle accelerating. However this can be chalked up to being an owner used to driving a modified 6.

Yea I thought it would have been closer too but in his favor we were neck and neck at first... but once the car got into it's power band it was over. In all honesty he was probably thinking that he would beat me but when we were neck and neck and I started to pull away he was pissed and said f-it.

Funny thing about the specs on those cars. They weight almost the same as the SRT, same rated HP 330 although I believe we are at the 349 but their torque is way low compared to ours. Not a surprise since we are supercharged but I was shocked to see that they're claimed 0-60 is 4.7 while ours is claimed to be 5.2! Really the only difference in their favor is their rear end gearing—3.69 to our 3.07!!! Damn we need some gears guys and bad!!!

Thats a good point, maybe the guys with aftermarket/modified TC's can look into this to...driveline is not my cup of tea to R&D.

I was checking an online parts store and they have the Limited's ring and pinion for a bit over 500.00. I just wonder what the differences, if any besides the ratio, are between the limited and SRT diffs? If there isn't any then it should be a simple swap no? My only though on a possible difference might be the grade of material??? Maybe the SRT gears are hardened?

SRT6 is an easy win. Even stock.
hp on the 370 is 332 hp but at 7000+rpm and tq is 270.

the SRT is full on much sooner and has a much wider power band

Road & Track tested and came up with 13.7 in the quarter- any quicker claim is very optimistic. Same mag scored a 13.3 in the SRT.

Skidpad the z does do slightly better....congrats.
