Lowering SRT Roadster
Guys,
I'm looking to lower my roadster and would like to get some opinions/options on the best method to do so. I know the srt roadster has different suspension dynamics than the coupe and there have been numerous discussion on the board but not much focus on the roadster so I'd like to hear from you roadster owners who've lowered their cars. I'd like to retain or improve the ride quality, if possible, and do it at a reasonable cost.
Thanks for your help!!

wrong.
you HAVE to order a kit SPECIFICALLY for the Roadster.
make sure you see this when you order your parts.
Roadster lowering kit is not the same as the coupes. the Roadster has bracing the coupes don't have.

gr8len, I replied to your PM.
From what I understand, the Eibachs that NeedsWings sells, etc. are supposed to work on any Crossfire. I believe the roadster bracing has nothing to do with the springs, you just remove them, install the springs, and reinstall the bracing.
I had the Eibachs on for a day or less. Drove ~10 miles or so and the wheels hit the insides of the wheelwells on every little bump.
Sure, it looked nice, but it was not worth the headache IMO. I would not recommend lowering a SRT6 Roadster.

Guys,
I don't know about Eibach; I didn't go that way. I went with HR Sports and their site definitely says there is a difference between the Coupe and the Roadster. HR lists the Crossfire Coupe Part # 50805 and 50869 for the Roadster.
Like I said I went this way because I had good luck with HR in the past and they drop the car a bit lower. I did have to add a KMAC kit to get the camber correct in the rear.
I hope this helps. Stay safe...
Respectfully,
Paul (MisterTaz)

As far as SRT stating the Roadster and Coupe have specific spring rates for each car stock. I believe it, however I doubt its enough to make a difference and have yet to see what those rates are published anywhere.
If aftermarket company A makes 2 sets of springs for the SRT, one for the Roadster one for the Coupe, great.
If aftermarket company B makes 1 set that for the SRT, I am sure that will be just fine also.
88 lbs wont make one SRT sag more than another on a street car to matter because of spring rates. If it does make that big of a difference to the driver the dealer offers several different spring pads for someone to fine tune their suspension. Then again someone who is really that concerned about having a fine tuned suspension for racing wont run progressive springs.
Hell, the difference between a full tank of gas and empty tank is more than 88 lbs.
Ok I am done

and there you have it....really they prolly braced the ' vert to be a little overkill as well. Our German friends like to engineer the h*ll out of things, which is good, but I think you will be fine which ever way you go...good luck, now I am not lowering mine, because since I retired from active duty, and now a reserve, and second, driving a truck, eating truck stop food, I think mine will lower itself in due time....
Thanks for all of your replies so far! Does anyone know if there are other springs besides Eibach or HR available for our cars? I believe I ran into a set on ebay in the past but could not locate them again. BTW, do we have the same springs as the SLK32?
Thanks again guys!
Thanks again guys!
Eurocharged sells 'Roadster specific' springs by ST (Sport Tech)
H&R also sells 'Roadster-specific' springs as well.
i can't tell you exactly WHY there's a difference, but if it was my SRT6 roadster, i would only purchase 'Roadster-specific' springs.
just my opinion, do what you want.
