Hey Xfireblake, from what I've read on the fourm the limited and srt transmissions are pretty much the same apart from a very slight difference in ratio. If I buy the car I'll buy the whole thing and it'l have the transmission on it but if there the same I dont want to spend extra money at the mechanics switching them. member HDDP apparently put a srt motor in his manual limited and hasnt reported any faults from what I gather.

Personaly if I buy it I'm hoping I wont have to do the swap but I'm just preparing myself for a worst case scenario!!

Actually, If I remember right, HDDP has not been able to complete his due to work assignments.

He also used a Bosch unit to bypass the car's PMC so the car would run. It's my understanding that the electronics "marry" the engine to the transmission. Basically they are a complete set, and don't play without each other.

Apkano from what I remember the srt ecu looks physically identical to the limited that leads me to believe so would the other computers, In saying that they must be the same hardware just different software so it should be as simple as adjusting them to the new engine, this is jusy my theory. Like I said if I buy it I would hate to have to swap engines hopefully the car will be fine. I really want to drive it home I just wish I knew if it starts or not It's just like you living in New York and the car being in Cali long trip only to find out she doesnt start

I might have missed this, but how much will it cost you.
That would have a lot to do with my decision. This could
be a no brainer.. Also if it is totalled for water damage,
you know the water was past seat bottom. They wouldn't
total if it wasn't.

Well I dont want to pay more then $15,000 AUD (keep in mind a used SRT in Australia sells for around $45,000 all the way to around $60,000)

As I've mentioned before if its totaly screwed I'll just do an engine swap and have the only red srt

Judging a PCM by it's outside looks is kind of like judging a person's ethnicity based on how many legs they have.

HDDP used a VERY expensive Bosch box for a reason. The reason a trans swap is so diffucult is the PCM works hand-in-hand with the SKREEM security, all the parts have to have the correct codes before anything will work. You either have to re-program your box to work with the SRT engine (MAP sensor) or take all the electronics out of the SRT and reprogram that box to work with your ignition switch, trans, security, etc.. Either way, you need to have the PCM re-programmed, and as of yet, I haven't seen anyone who will do this cheap.

Don't laugh swapping your RHD components to a US car maybe the least expensive and safe proposition
