Default My Times at Nats

Tom and I had great runs though out the day even tho we actually ran each other twice... he came out on top tho. wah wah.
Nats-bestrace.jpg

Here is my first run of the day... and my second run ever in the Crossfire....it had to be my best of course...
Nats-best.jpg

second best time they messed up my number but i was the only one running.
2nd-best.jpg

not that it really matters but heres my best reaction.

after about 15 runs i averaged about a 12.68 ish on 275/35/19 bfgoodrich kdw 2's with an intake code 3 pulley and a tune that could use some work

i am very happy actually.

the code 3 wont last long... but for the money i paid and throwing it on 2 days before we left and running these numbers with just pulling up to the line made me happy. the tune in my car now is a tune for the setup i am going to be heading towards and of course i was just to lazy to start correcting it at the track wah wah oh well LET was there too.

also i want to see the other code 3 guys with just an intake and tune running lower than 12.4's at best... in great conditions and on street tires. i dont want to see torque converters or intake manis etc etc.

there are code 3 guys running better than 12.4's with just an intake and a tune on street tires.

i ran 12.23@113something last year with intake tune and pulley on a 80 degree day. back in april i hit 12.21@114something with the same mods plus drag radials but it was at a higher altitude track. another member on here has hit 12.1's with the same mods.

I have not went back since the new tune and meth.

A few of us are running lower. When the track is prepped very well, several of us run 12.1's on street tires. Chuck (Thumper SRT6) ran a 12.1 with just a tune, code-3 pulley, Needswings intake, street tires, and a completely stock exhaust. And Dave in South Florida has done it. Running closer to sea level may be the advantage over you guys.

I think Drew is actually just thinking about switching over to a 185mm EC pulley kit...I think.

Hey Tamadx, don't get discouraged! You've got great trap speeds, but your 60' needs work if you want to see better times.

Here are a couple of runs I did that have close 60' times as the ones you posted here. Runs where on April 24 this year at Orlando Speedworld :

60': 2.029
330: 5.463
1/8 ET: 8.274
1/8 MPH: 87.58
100': 10.680
1/4 ET: 12.709
1/4 MPH: 110.73

60': 1.919
330: 5.333
1/8 ET: 8.133
1/8 MPH: 87.80
100': 10.536
1/4 ET: 12.562
1/4 MPH: 110.87

60': 1.919
330: 5.324
1/8 ET: 8.112
1/8 MPH: 88.25
100': 10.502
1/4 ET: 12.521
1/4 MPH: 111.12

Notice that I have higher 1/8 trap speeds but lower 1/4 traps than you. Don't now what that means exactly, but you mention that the tune on your car is for your future mod setup (I have the LET V2 tune). Seems you pull harder in higher gears than I do.

If you want better 1/4 ETs, you need to launch harder. I was a little timid launching on the runs above, as I can pull 1.8x 60's if I launch like this:

1. Do a good burnout. Get those tires nice and warm. I usually do about a 5-6 second burnout. You'll want to experiment since you have different tires than I do (Goodyear GS-D3s).
2. Stage around 1600-1700 RPMs. (If I stage higher, my brakes start to not hold. Your milage may vary )
3. On launch, FLOOR IT! Don't ease into the throttle. Caveat: Trap prep needs to be good to do this without spinning. I've been pretty lucky at OSW in that they've been spraying the track on our Street Drag nights. Of course it does wear off as the night goes on. (It really sucks to have a night running 12.3s then go and run a 13.8 'cause you launched too hard )

These steps should get you a 1.8x 60', lower if the DA is great. You would have been running 12.4s at Nats if you could launch more aggressively.

thumper thanks a bunch for the slips. i know the tune is for a different setup and i am running rich.

the advice you gave will be taken in future events... the track prep wouldn't allow me to just floor it off the line no matter how long the burnout. i stage at 1300 i tried one at 1500 and i went sideways off the line and ran a 14 something haha.

the reason why i am happy is that the times i got were similar to Toms car with different mods.

to the guy asking why the code 3's dont last long is because guys like me who always want more never can stick with the same setup. i am not going with the 185 setup just yet i have some good hope for the 181 setup tho.

i will be going to EC sometime and seeing if i can get a run on the dyno to get a re flash and see the difference.

Ohh that makes sense my bad!

So the ASP & let pullys are "crank" pullys and the code 3 is a "supercharger pully""?

You don't have a torque converter? How does your tranny function?

I thought it was clear we were speaking of an aftermarket torque converter. I didn't realise it needed to be spelled out so clearly for everyone to understand that. I will try to be much more careful going forward so it does not confuse anyone else.
