LSD question from a newbie
Hi everyone, I own a SLK 32 and not a SRT-6 but pop in here all the time as you all seem to try so hard to improve the great AMG motor.
Just a quick question for you all.In search for better rear end grip has anyone tried fitting the LSD from a Mercedes 190 2.3-16? I know a few of you guys are running the Phantom Grip with good results but looking under the back end of a 190 the rear ends look the same. I think if i'm not mistaken that both rear ends are 3.07 so anybody know if this would work? If it would could the diff take both the power and torque from our AMG motors. I know that the later 2.5-16 runs a different ASD type diff and guess that would be a big pain to try to fit.
There must be a simple enough solution out there for us guys, so we can put all our power down thats from the factory.
If this has been covered before I will say my sorry's in advance.

I know Kirk (RIOT) has a Phantom Grip on his SRT, but I haven't seen him post in a while...he must be busy drag racing his boat.
Jake (lougn14) from Eurocharged has some experience with Quaife LSDs'. They are helical ATBs'. That would be another option, though I'm not sure of the applications for SLKs', but I've seen it on a couple Es'
EDIT: Just checked Quaife's website. Looks like the applications for Mercedes are only C32s' and E55s'... looks like you will have to stick with Phantom Grip.

I may have been the first crossfire with the LSD from Phantom. I installed the unit after learning how to pull apart the rear end.
Seems to work on the autocross circuit, ZERO issues or noise after over a year since installation.
Enjoy Woody

There was talk, but nothing ever materialized....like was said above, members either put in the phantom grip or just stay stock.
I am with you, it would be really nice if there was another option....who knows these guys keep building power and they are going to have to upgrade and maybe we will all be able to benefit!
Cheers,
