Wix 51226 oil filter for SRT6?
![Default](https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/images/icons/icon1.gif)
Hey everyone, I know someone that had a n/a crossfire and he gave me a new Wix 51226 paper filter for free that he had sitting around in his garage. I know they are basically for the n/a, but will it be ok for my SRT6? It supposedly flows the same and I would think it will be ok. If anyone has used it on their SRT6, let me know. Thanks!

They meet all standards reqired by manufacturer.
You will get some "oh never use a paper filter" types but don't forget they worked for every thing up to your SRT didn't they?
99% of the automobiles on the American road have said filters.
Wix doesn't build crappy filters for anything.
So in answer...
God I wouldn't use a paper filter in anything!
Have a good un,
Mike

I haven't heard of any engine failures from using a Wix filter with the paper element, and it appears to flow the same as the other. So I feel confident that it will work ok. It has nothing to do with spending just a few more bucks, because I will go back to the other when my 6000 miles are up.

Hi, realize this is an old post, seem to recall your still posting ,anyhow... just in case anyone needs additional info on paper L engine vs fleece N engine oil filters and oil viscosity.
What Are the Oil Change Specifications of a 2005 Daimler Chrysler Crossfire?
While engine oil is arguably one of the most important aspects of automobile maintenance, it carries only three specifications--oil weight, drain plug torque and filter size. The 2005 Daimler Chrysler Crossfire came with two variations of a 3.2L six-cylinder engine, each with separate engine oil specifications. The eighth digit of the Vehicle Identification Number located on the lower driver's side corner of the windshield is the engine code that can identify which specifications to use.
Engine Code L

Engine Code L
-
- The Crossfire engine code L uses WIX 51226 oil filter or an equivalent with a recommended 8.5 quarts of SAE 5w40 engine oil. The drain plug torques to 22 foot pounds of torque.
-
- The only difference in the engine codes is the filter used in the engines. Engine code N requires a WIX 57078 oil filter or equivalent. The torque specifications of the drain plug, oil capacity, and weight are the same.
- &&&&&&
-
- The engine oil weight recommendations work with all weather conditions, but you should evaluate your use of the vehicle before selecting an oil. Prolonged driving or higher mileage on the vehicle implies you should use a heavier weight oil or a high mileage oil. When a torque wrench is not available to replace the drain plug, tighten the drain plug to hand tight and then approximately a half to three-quarters turn more by ratchet.

I'd be happy to take them off your hands, at the current rate of usage of my Crossfire that should last me several years , only have 28,000kms on it or approx 17,000 mi.
