Hey guys, that thread over on the g8 board got LONG...I feel I acquitted myself well though.
What it boils down to is them asking for a stock for stock race with an srt6.
As I'm in Australia, I'm out. Any takers?

no need i raced several stock g8's while i was stock. from a dig the -xfire pulls about half a car and pulls ever so slightly from there on. well past 100. but the cars are very evenly matched stock. at the track they are only a few 10ths of a second apart.

 

The Xfire handles better, which is a good thing. But again, comparing a family sedan to a sports car is another matter. Completely stock I ran a 13.2 @105, so I'm sure I could have beaten one at that time.

 

My other car is a silver G8 and I can say without hesitation, that my srt6 will wipe the street with that overweight pig. Perhaps the GXP might stay with me, but I doubt it.

 

Are you guys referring to the G8 GT or GXP?

I ran a 13.12 @ 107.49 Stock.

I'd be up for it... at a track only. I'm still stock.. for two more days.

GT or GXP makes no difference. Either one, the SRT-6 would win.

 

From my research, seems the '6 is pretty evenly matched with the gxp stock for stock, and noticeably faster than the normal one. Seriously though, please click through the link and go help set this straight if anyone is local...
keep it civil though. I've had to try pretty hard to temper the things that some of our forum guys have been saying, as they were just setting the cause back.

wow. what a bunch of knuckleheads. especially that nappy guy. i'd like to race him in my fata$$ c32 and show him what a pulley and intake can do to a car (though mine does have more)......

i guess thats a typical vette owner. most people dont know the first thing about AMG motors until they run into one. i wouldnt even waste my time with those guys......just call it quits over there IMO

 

Good job over there Aussie. They can supercharge one and I'll still spank it. If they want a sedan there are plenty of AMG 4 doors that will do the same. My buddy has one so this winter I plan to run him. I'll get some video as always. The seats in those cars are very, very comfortable. I wish my buckets were as comfortable. Seat envy. It's a great car built in your homeland that will get GM as close to a BMW as possible. It'd be nice if they did the el camino concept with the same platform and motor. Oh well say goodbye to Pontiac.

 

Aussiedude, aren't those G8's just an SS Holden? or is it the HSV platform? if so thats funny as hell, last night I dragged one of those 317kw R8's and absoutly SMASHED him, he pulled up next to me at the next lights and he goes f*&k what mods have you done? I said 100% stock mate, his face turned white lol.

 

Man I just finished reading that G8 thread. Let me ask this question to the Americans! is this G8 a special car over in the states? by that I mean are they rare? or above average cars? It's just wierd seeing them spoken about as if there something "special" here in Australia nearly every second car is a VE Commodore or G8 as you guys call them there just a basic family car that nearly every family has lol

It's actually embaressing that us Aussies are known for that G8, it's a shame you guys never got the high powerd Fords imported this is the cream of the crop down here a 310kw (its actually well over 330kw) inline 6, single turbo powerd monster.

 

All the same, I'd love if someone would be willing to meet up with one of these guys...the majority are actually ok, they just don't want to believe.

Those guys over there are totaly out of touch with reality. Have you seen there kill section? They swear they have the fastest car on earth so there's no point in arguing. Most of them are cool a few of them know the deal, but there are a lot of morons there too. Just let it go, its not worth it.

 

I agree with Blue above BUT Aussie, thanks for the props on our cars. You did good, trying to keep it civil and all. Besides, it never hurts to try to educate the masses!
Frankly, I've never seen a G8 of any variety around here but I also live in the sticks. Just lotsa Hemi-Ram trucks & the farm boys who drive them.

 

Aussiedude, there obviously the VE platform and it obviously wouldn't have a more powerful engine then the R8 317kw, that might be there gxp or whatever they call them, and like I said it was embaressing for the guy! if you want to prove to them over on the "G8" board how much faster our cars are just get a buddy with a SS or something looks the same as there G8's and destory him on the q/mile then post it as a video to the G8 boys lol

 

judging from the times in reviews on the g8, I'm not sure what holden it's equivalent to. seems they do 5.3-5.5 to 100, which makes them faster than an SS i think...

 

Thats a little quicker then a SS and a little slower then the 317kw R8, I'm assuming its the VE GTS 307kw engine. either way the SRT would destory any of them dont pay any attention to the stats...

 

well, being a fact based person I find myself having to pay SOME heed to the stats...
They are what they are, after all.
