To black, or not to black...
Well if you really care what I think, don't do it. Ive seen so many old rattle trap Mustangs, Cameros and Pontac pony cars blacked out, not to mention circa 80's, boxy, semi performance cars from Japan that I have come to loathe that look. I used to think high performance when I saw it, now I think, Rattle can restoration.
It's yesterdays look. A little bling tastefully done looks much hotter. Chrome the strakes, the grill, and leave the wing alone (not sure if you meant your Needwings intake or your spoiler) either way, leave it alone. If you have the cash put some Giovanni or other art work wheels on it.
YOU ASKED, MAX
P.S. you can't really chrome those items but you can get overlays

+1.
Save the chrome for the gangsta donks, SUVs, old caddys and 55 chevys.
I'm on the fence about this one sir...
Too much chrome indeed looks tacky. Having said that, I think the blacked out look is, (to quote my valley-girl friend) "Soooo five minutes ago." A very nicely done paintjob, with gloss black and clearcoat looks pretty sinister. But it also makes it look like a base model. I agree with above sentiments that if you're going to black out literally every other bright part on the car, the wheels need to be black as well.
Perhaps it's just me, but I think the thing that adds a lot of class to the X-fire is the subtle brushed metal accents. Many of your classier cars (Audi, Spyker, etc) utilize the muted look of brushed metals. When everything is body-color, it makes me think "low rent" like Nissan, Mitsu, and the like.
Not all cars can pull off the accents like the Crossfire does. If a mustang or 370Z owner was jonesing for metallic accents, I'd tell them to shy away as it would look tacky and overcompensated.
If nothing else, maybe give them a darker satin treatment like what Woody did. The accents still pop, just not as loudly. But the X looks better with accents in my opinion.
Cheers,

I like the accent look. The black out is good. Ashley's SRT also has the wheels painted blaze red.

I saw a matte black BMW the other day and it looked good, but I am sure that if it was mine I would get bored with it pretty quick and get out the Porter Cable and start polishing.
A little chrome, not the wheels, goes a long way.
The only thing that really bothers me on the srt6 is the window surround, I do not know what they were thinking when they made it a different color than the body. I think it looks terrible and out of place.
Everyone likes something different, that is what makes modding cars fun. I just think chrome looks out of place on a sports car. Especially heavy chrome wheels.
