You are talking about your HHR SS right? You didn't go do something stupid like go buy a Camaro 2SS did you? Slow.

I am debating doing black chrome, but there are other things on the list first...

I think all black looks good. On someone elses car. Especially so if they like it. I think our cars look stunning in black. But not enough to own one myself.

It is all about pleasing yourself.

But consider the comments to a poster who placed his car up for sale with blacked out wheels and chrome. Most people suggested he put the std wheels back on if he wanted to get a decent price for it.

Who do you want to please?

OK then. I would suggest you take care of his preferences.

Yup! I can't stand it. When you think about it the designers got a little off focus. There's silver paint and chrome wings . I'd do one or the other but certainly not both. Bad Chrysler designer bad!!

The good thing is if you don't like it, you can change it....

Other than performance enhancements, I would be opposed to getting this nice little car all gangstered up. In order to retain its value and pedigree, leave it OEM stock.

lol, yes you want to keep that resale value. The stock srt6's keep going up in value. I seen one sell for $1.2 million on the ebay the other day.

I bought the car to enjoy, that is what a car is for. Typically most cars are not investments, I buy a car to use not to lock up in a garage and look at once in a while. Other than making it into a donk or doing a honda engine swap in it I think people should do what ever they want to their car as long as they have fun with it. Why in the world someone would buy a car then be scared to touch it or even drive it in fear of hurting resale value or altering the stock appearance is beyond me.

Good point. Exactly why we have an automotive section at K-Mart.

black out the wings. definitely. it will update the look. chrome is old school. i even thought about smoothing the whole front of the hood and repainting it to get rid of those giant wings! lower the car. having lots of black is very sporty, and wheel gap stands out a lot more with lots of black. don't black out the wheels. it only looks good if you still have a silver lip.

just my thoughts.... still trying to stay on the forums when i can!

Kurt,

Please keep us posted on this, as I am considering doing the same thing. The ONLY 2 items on the entire body of may car that are not black are the wings on the front and my Karmann decal under the spoiler....

Oh and for those doubters with no style, I see you.....

Do it Kurt!!!

how much was the mini-windmill mounted on the roof? Does that generate electricity or is it just for looks? Either way, looks good!

seriously though, that does look good all blacked out.

I'll admit I'm no fasioneesta (sp?) when it comes to cars, but I do know what I like, that I am an expert in. I lean towards classic/traditional in most things and that's never cutting edge but it never really goes out either. Ultra trendy today is ultra lame tomorrow.

A little chrome, not the wheels, goes a long way.
Oh! those wings. I get it now, Thanks

Drive one. Rather a disapointment.

Handles like a heavy 1/4 ton pickup.

Thanks for your patience oledoc2u. As I wrote you, I was not OK with the coating on the upper. He took longer than he said recoating it. Picked them up this afternoon and immediately sent them out FedEx Ground. You should be getting an email from them. Look for the grilles to arrive by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thanks,

Karl
