Talking WHO has gotten to their YAW sensor, touched it???

YES boys and girls Iam into another quest.

I need to talk to some one who has gotten to their yaw sensor so I dont go too crazy trying to pull the covers off....... If you have done it please let me know. I want to buffer its output for autocrossing as I am sure that it is limiting my G's in snap turns, sorta makes sense and I cant get it to be off. Pulling fuses kills the ABS and I need that big time.

Let me know, thanks Woody

Good Luck Woody!
I have thought about this more than once but never had the time to mess with it - I work too much.

I would think if you could figure out what voltage readings are being fed to it and devise a way to make them constant no matter what, then it would always think you are going straight even if you are doing 360 degree circles down the road.

That would be fun, donuts and still have ABS!!!

Good luck and please keep me, errrr us posted!

Later,
KrzyFast

Got to mind and unplugged it i'll post some pictures on how to get to it, its fairly confusing getting the console peices apart the first time.

Tech-Info - Auto World

Woody,

according to this article, you may want to look at the steering angle sensor as well.
The below is an excerpt from the article

ESC works in the background, continuously monitoring steering and vehicle direction. ESC compares the driver’s intended direction (by measuring steering angle) to the vehicle’s actual direction (by measuring lateral acceleration, vehicle rotation (yaw), and individual road wheel speeds). ESC only intervenes when it detects loss of steering control,

hope it helps your quest.

I intend to measure the output and add a diode clamp to make the output within limits so that it will not react and allow me to go hard without intervention..Clamps are easy for me.

My autocrossing generates up to a 1G reading and the esc is limiting me I believe holding me down / back. Woody

Worth a try, buffering its output could help.

I believe the signal from the yaw sensor is a differentially signalled line a-la CANBUS.

Diode clamping will probably throw a code.

With mine unplugged i do get the BAS/ESP light on the dash but no more brake assisted stablity intervention, you will still get the rearend brakes to come on for intial traction when the front tires aren't spinning, but the Brake assisted stability no longer seems present. I'll get pictures up on how to get to the sensor monday afternoon.

Looking at the wiring diagram 8w-35-4, in srt manual.

I see the ESP off switch, is only wired to take out the rear wheel speed sensors.

I wonder if it could be wired to remove the two front speed sensors as well?

Would this shut down ESP completely?

my plan is to get to the yaw sensor and rotate it to sense gravity to see the scaling and then limit the amplitude so that its like a 1/3 g figure and keep it calm. I dont want the intervention in turns on the track.. I have great power now DOWN LOW but get beat bad and I can t help but believe that the throttle is cut and brakes are on without me knowing.

Here are the requested images i'll put them in order of completion.

First and second step just use a flat head screwdriver to pop loose the plastic cover peices.

3rd picture is showing me uncliping the two electric window switches so i can set the plastic cover to the side.

4th you need two remove the two screws holding the major console peices together.

5th lift up and pull twards the back of the car to remove the plastic cover with the electric side mirror **** on it.

6th disconnect the side mirror connector from the main plastic peice

Remove the rubber cover from around the e-brake, this can seem rather difficult at first just use some muscle and wiggle/twist it as you pull upwards. Hmm... now if i can just get my woman to grasp this technique...

theres that sneaky sob...
