Default srt6 vs. shelby gt500

i was driving tonight with my friend and a shelby gt500 2009 rolled up next to me gassed it and honked 3 times, we raced from 35mph-80mph i lost by 1 car length...then again my car was still in "D" mode and i did not turn off traction and my tires are bald, if i dropped it into tiptronic and had new tires and turned off traction do you guys think i would have maybe been neck and neck with him? i was easily pulling onto him by the time we hit 80mph but i stopped in fear of police, i believe by 90 mph i would have been infront of him due to the fact that srt6's at high speeds are demons! p.s. my car is completely stock and the ****** thinks he is cool beating me!!!

lol

no it would still pull on you. and as strong as you might think your car is top end, they have a better top end. i've raced one in my current form and pulled a litte itty bit (havent retuned my car since headers), but stock srt6s arent nearly as quick as me right now.

get an intake and tune and then i'd say do it again....and be careful!

check out what they run on dragtimes

slowest stock one running an absurdly slow 13.4 @ 108. something wrong with that one or that driver

but stock ones can trap up to 116, which is pretty high. i think an intake and tune its a good race.....slap on a pulley, and you would pull......most of the times posted are in good DAs anyway. no one is going to post a bad time

i think your srt6 may turn more heads than my c32. yours looks more unique. mine, just a regular looking c-class with big breaks, rims, and a little CF trunk lip lol....though if one looks carefully, they can see my big heat exchanger sitting in the front bumper hidden behind my mesh grille haha........but both are sleepers and have the good M112k platform to work with that surprises a lot of people

lol. i knew what you meant.

i'll clarify.

aesthetically, your car would turn more heads than both mine and the shelby i think, because of its uniqueness. the shelby will turn more heads than me simply b/c it is a loud, 2 door "sports car" whereas mine is a 4 door sedan.

performance wise, people won't be surprised by the shleby gt500......but they will be HELLA shocked (and have been, i've seen it first hand) if they see one crazy srt6 or c32. lol. and its great.....priceless look as you go by haa.

Sounds like a great race, thanks for letting us in on it. I bet he was thinking Damn that’s a fast X-fire!!!
Just think if you had a CAI and a tune you would have surprised him… If you added a pulley you would have decimated him. I haven’t had the opportunity to run a gt500 yet but I pulled ½ a car length on a Saleen Mustang 2nd and 3rd gear before we had to shut it down.

Nice run, should have made your buddy get out, he was just extra weight

There's a red/white one that lives somewhere around me. I see him every once in a while, but he's always going the other way, would like to catch up with him sometime and run.

keep in mind that those are SC as well and can easily be upgraded. and with version like the super snake and KR versions out there they can make some serious times. but when you talk about aesthetics and power for you penny we'll beat them every time though. my girlfriends uncle has a 2008 KR that's supposed to be a 12sec. car, but I wouldn't know though, he's always too busy spinning the tires. It does sound amazing though.

Get a pulley and a tune and drive away from them. I did!

The only REAL loss I have had was against a Supra, but then again I haven't been at the right place/right time with a GT500 but can't wait to try. It would be great to see the face of the driver when this little coupe walks away, albeit slowly, from his/her 500hp+ monster. I definitely need a tune for some extra horses, for my dreams are a bit surpassing my cars limitations ATM, .

In warm weather I've seen the 500's run 12.6's. Most have stock wheels and tires, so they have some real traction issues. With slicks they should be damn fast.

I do 12.5 with street tires...never afraid to play with a Mustang...they can get up to 700 HP out of them if they spend the right money, but very few do anything to them...someday, I will get my doors blown by a 700 HP one...LOL...but not a stock one...

And of those that mod the motors, there's another fraction that do anything to address the original 800# gorilla: traction.

A stock GT can roast the tires with ease. Looks impressive, but they don't go anywhere too fast.

As Pirelli says... power is nothing without control.
