Default New member. Few questions about SRT-6.

Hello, im looking to purchase a srt-6 in the next couple weeks/months. I have a few questions. My first concern is the automatic transmission. Ive see some posts and dynos on here. How well do these 5 speeds hold up to the 350+ whp and low 12 second runs? i ve never had an auto and this would be my first. im looking to mod but nothing too crazy. a low 12 second srt-6 would be ideal. I have always been under the assumption that high hp and stock automatic transmission dont go hand in hand. and also havent i see any of you guys run meth???? Thanks!

the transmissions are AMG automatic transmissions and yes they hold up to 350+ hp runs for an extended period of time.

also, i believe a few guys are running a water/meth mix, but i will let them speak up as i am not sure which members are for sure.

thanks for the quick replys. anthing in specific i should look for when shopping around? i heard about some pump failure being a common problem. But what other issues plaque the srt-6? i cant wait to get into one. Not too many people know about its potential ( i was reading on g8board and everyone swears they run 13.5 stocktheres like 12 pages of debate) and for being a 4-5 year old car is looks absolutely stunning The interior is FTW as well.

They do run 13.5s stock if you are a terrible driver or its a terrible track lol.

My SRT6's best stock time was 13.12 @ 107.xx

G8s can't hang

Pump is the biggest issue right out of the gate almost sure to fail at some point. There is some debate as to what to use to replace it. i went with the proven Johnson CM30 Pump. Has worked flawlessly for me.

intercooler pump failure 700$ at the dealership 149 for diy. accesories pulleys ie tensioner idler and such, cost for the diy approx 100$ better to just replace them than lunch a pulley and crash the front!, heat exchanger sucks get a tighed1 or needswings. other than that pretty dependable

I am running a dual nozzle (into the intake manifolds) meth kit from AEM. still needs a tune for it though......

Are you for sure going with InMotion for the tune, because I may try to get LET to drive out to NJ to do tuning one day before winter hits hard... just curious.

I'm still waiting on a response from Jake at EC about my tuning needs/concerns for my setup and with running the meth. I'm not 100% on swiching just yet, but yeah, let me know if that does happen. Thanks!

nice... i dont know how well these cars respond to meth, but based on boost the size of the motor i wouldnt be surprised to see over a 30whp gain. That also depends on the nozzle and the mixture you will be using. Im surprised not more of u guys are using this. the cooling/anti detonation properties are a big plus for f/i. not to mention all the power!

I am running a 6gph nozzle using a nitromethane/methanol/water mix into the supercharger. I have datalogged a consistent .9 to 1psi gain in boost and i am running a updated tune with it as well. i have not yet had it to the track, it is a 3.5 hour drive each way and it has rained almost every day here this summer lol.

i have the alky on a switch and only use it when i go to the track. my IAT temps average about 30 to 40 degrees cooler with it on. I have posted pics in my thread how i have mine set up. i ran a similar setup on my old car that was also supercharged (aftermarket roots supercharger) and it is still going strong with over 2 years use on that setup.

i did a lot of research, even contacted the supercharger manufacturer and discussed my setup. I also did around 6 months of research with a few alky system manufacturers. I do think I need my timing advanced a little more to really show optimum results but it runs good with what i have now.

i hope to post up some new dyno and track times soon. i was planning to go this weekend but guess what, 60% chance of thunderstorms starting tomorrow and ending on monday. this rain every weekend weather pattern really sucks!

There was one guy using it as far back as 2 yrs ago and ran 11's. Even though we have a supercharger, we still call that all motor. With that being said most try to hit 11's or low 12's with all motor and bolt ons for daily driving use. We all know meth is not NOS, but it's still considered spraying. So that is one reason it's not that common. I have a buddy who runs a 30 shot of nitrous and technically is the 2nd fastest SRT6 in the nation on spray. Nobody made a big deal because its on nitrous. Does that make sense? Your gonna love it when you get one.

Let me know when/where- I also have the LET V2 tune that DistantPulse has and am having the same inherent problems with it. If I can get a newer LET tune at no cost that will be preferable to paying another 5 bills.

PS- we are located in South Jersey.

Well I guess I will go ahead and let the “cat out of the bag” as far as meth goes. I put the AEM kit on my car a couple weeks ago in the 100 degree Texas Heat and saw some pretty good results. I was waiting to post up the time until I made a pass on drag radials, but here you go. The car has more in it. I saw 10.7 AFRs and only 18-19lbs of boost, think I can make the tune more “aggressive” and see even better results. Something interesting is that my 60ft is worse than before, but picked up 3mph at the end. I was having a little bit of traction issues but not too bad, the 285/30/20s hook up ok. Pay no attention to the spanking my buddies meth/supercharged Vette put on me. He was running 10.8’s by the end of the night!!!

Okay BLKFIN, now tell us what that illegible print says.... it looks like 11.93 @ 11x mph.
