WOW Andy, great video. But I don't think there is any way I could have done that, driving on the right side of the road, in a right hand drive car. Very impressive sir. Beautiful place, and Beautiful Daughter, congrats.

Definitely fast fun for two. If they ever finish the Atlantic tunnel you can come ride the Dragon in your SRT and give us a comparison. Of course, we'll be over there driving in the Alps. I loved the sound of that engine. Sounded like a lot of third gear work. On the dragon I think many of us autostick between 3rd and 2nd.

Thanks for the video!

I really enjoyed the video, thanks for posting. We returned recently from 2 weeks in Greece and I saw only a single Crossfire, a black roadster on the island of Crete. Really wished I had my xf while there!

That was a great ride!

Looks as though that road gives you a chance to get some real speed.

Great post,
Thank you.

First off the measured average I did on this section was 56 MPH. Second, the pass from east to west has great visibility, as Hans points out later in the thread. Third, I only crossed the white line once (other than overtaking) and that was on a clearly sighted bend where I had to compensate for a large dip in the road.

Car and driver were well within their limits at all times. For you to suggest that this drive was an 'antic' that deliberately put my son's life in danger is melodramatic to say the least, if not downright offensive.

Yes, 'if' there had have been rocks or cinders (?) on the road, and 'if' there had have been a motorcycle too far left etc. etc. If my grandma' had have had ********* she would have been my grandpa'.

I'm not condoning foolish or irresponsible driving on public roads. I repeat, car and driver were well within limits and the average was 56MPH. Yes I hit 95 in one short burst but it's a SRT6 for goodness sake. It goes from 0-100-0 in 15 seconds. Yes I did achieve 70-75 on the long flowing stretches but soild walls on one side and big drops on the other hold less potential danger than something crossing the median on a freeway.

BTW I'm 54 years old with an unblemished driving licence and the last motoring accident I had, was when I was 17. Experience still counts for something in this world.

OK, I'll stand corrected on your speed, and driving skills and experience. I'm 53 as well. But, view this video of a guy in a Viper rolling himself off a cliff, all on YouTube. Very sobering for those hitting winding roads at too high a speed with virtually no margin for safety. Very sobering. Not sure if this guy made it, but the Viper is toast.

Clip of Viper going off curve and down 100 ft cliff.

Be careful out there when pushing the limits...

That is sobering

SRT10's are evil beasts. No ESP and lighting up the rears is soooo easy. I had a test drive in one and it's a car that genuinely terrified me. Respect for those that drive them and they are great machines, but beyond my limits.

Curious how he lost it when staging an obvious 'scene' with the camera positioned just perfect. Ran out of talent at the wrong place. How embarrassing is that? Still, good to know he walked away.

Stay safe

Love to swap experiences on that. I've driven a lot in the US but always in rentals, of course. Still there are some great drives, especially in CA : the upper reaches of Mulholland Drive and some of the adjoining canyons above LA come to mind. The run from SF to Yosemite through Mariposa (think it's the 140) is one I'd love to do again. Highway 1 from the Bixby Bridge down through Big Sur of course, if you can get a fog-free day.

Hey maybe we could do an owner swap/drive, you know like people do with holiday homes etc. I know, silly idea.

Cheers

Andy G
