Default At the track today

Today was my second time at the track, and did much better. I do have a question about my times for those with experience. First the times"

60' 1.851
330 5.307
1/8 8.184
mph 85.04
1000 10.663
1/4 12.734
mph 107.65

60' 1.872
330 5.339
1/8 8.231
mph 84.69
1000 10.717
1/4 12.796
mph 107.18

Ok, from my 60' times, should I not be around 111 to 112 mph at the 1/4? Why would my mph be so slow?

Having said that, I am happy to be at 12.7 with my crappy Conti's

P.S. My fat arss is 240 lbs. I would guess that would have something to do with my trap speed. Ohhhh..... and Buggin had 12.712 1/4 @ 111.08 and 13.143 @ 111.75

That's about right. You need the tune to help get the power on top.

Thanks..... I can't wait for Dec. 12th.

Also, I wonder why Buggin is getting 111.75 mph with a 13.143. He doesn't have a tune yet either.

Remember, I'm running ice water in the intercooler tank and I ran with my filters removed...

I do think you should be trapping a little higher though.

Thank god for those 1st couple passes! That track got slick really quick! I actually have some time slips in the 14's w/ 2.7 60' times!!!

Hey Alan. Enjoyed the time at the track today. Yep.... don't really want to talk about the later runs.

Before we left today, there was a car that I am guessing was about a 8-10 sec. car that lost it at about 300 ft. He was in the left lane and all of a sudden veered right. When he did, he caught air under his car which sent him up on the right 2 wheels. He was almost at the point of flipping when he hit the outside wall at a 45 degree angle. He slammed the wall hard. Driver was ok, but his ride was tore up.

Wish I had brought my real camera... the iPhone takes crappy pics. However, this is all I got of you racing.

I wanted to beat that GT500 Shelby Mustang so bad, and that was one of my 14+sec runs where I couldn't get the tires to hook. That guy was running low 13's...

Can't wait to slap some Mickey Thompsons on there!

have to careful at the track...sometimes if the track crew isn't paying attn, those 8-10 second cars put some water on the track...I hit some while shifting into 3rd and got sideways...not always power making you spin...track prep is crucial...just watch the cars you are following...

Thats cool. I didn't know that you took that. Next time, I will bring my HD Camcorder and camera. It will be cool getting some video of you [or me] roasting a GT.

Your time is right where it should be with your mods. The LET tune should drop your time .4-.5, and better 60 foots down to 1.7 would get you low 12s or high 11s.

Well done out there today!

That is an interesting point, and something I had not thought of. When Alan and I made our first 2 passes, it was early, and there were no trailered cars running yet. I launched both times with no tire spin (Dropped in first, TC off, 1500 rpm, and WOT, 25 lb tire pressure). Ohhh, I had a .189 RT on the first pass. After our first two hot lap passes, we took a break and watched others run. It was after a lot of passes with the sub 10 sec cars were made that I went back and made a couple of passes while Alan watched. Both times, I spun like crazy. I was really disappointed after having launched so well earlier. Then Alan went, and he had the same luck as me. So, at least I know it was not just me. Anyway, The best run I had after the first 2 was a 13.1. I had a 14 sec run also. Alan was in line to run next when the Chevelle(I think that was what it was) hit the wall.

Edit.... I just remembered.... my 3rd pass was sooo bad spinning, it was a 16 sec run. I did say that I didn't want to talk about it right.

LOL...funny you should mention that....since I am having no luck selling my car...I could not stand not to have a pulley on it. HP Autowerks gave me a smoking deal on a new pulley and it arrived today. Have not had time to mess with it, but thinking I will put this on in the morning. My car still has the LET tune on it so it should be fun to feel the difference again.

Thats cool Scott. That is the same one that Alan just put on his SLK32. Maybe you will end up keeping the SRT. Are you going to put a CAI back on?

Thanks Jim. Yep, got the LET tune coming Dec. 12th, and next on the list will be some DRs. Hopefully that will get me there. Well, every time I think just one more thing..... then something else catches my interest. I am thinking after the DRs, will be meth! I guess always having something else you want to do keeps it interesting.
