Head lights and horns...
I decided to do some clean-up work on the SSB since I am off this week. I have been accumulating little projects for it this summer. Polish out haze on head lights, install slotted rotors from Aero, Goodridge SS lines, HID's and add NW devil horns to SL55 intake. I got the headlights, HID's and devil horns done. Here are a couple of pics. I pulled the bumper so I could take the headlights out to polish them and it also made the HID install a snap.
I also decided to relocate the horns to the sides while I had all that room to play. Today I work on the brakes... oh what fun....
Passenger head light before....

Passenger head light after... note relocated horn..

Drivers head light before.....

Drivers head light after.... again, note relocated horn...

Here is the completed headlights, horns relocated and SL55 intake with TVT tubes and NW Devil horn scoops.

And this is the Pilot HID kit I used. Not as cheap as others, but the wires are all set through the grommet and it is a plug and play.

Hey Mike,
On the horns, I have a few questions.
1) Do you have a picture on the rest of your setup?
2) Did you have those fabricated or can you pick them up somewhere?
3) I am not an engineer, so this may be a dumb question but, it looks like the angle and width of the horn would take in extra volume of air, but has it ever been tested?
4) Can these horns be added on the stock set up?
Thanks,
Glenn aka Marine05

Glenn,
I dont have the TVT aluminum intake tubes yet. Take a look at this link to Shelton's setup. This is what it will look like when done. Except that I did not cut my radiator support. Pages 39 and 40 of the thread have good pics of the install.

You can get the 'devil horns' from NeedsWings. I sure hope they help the air flow, that is why I got them.
As far as testing, I dont know if anyone has done any air flow tests or anything else.
You can not add them to the stock setup. You need a 2.75" hose feeding to the front and the factory setup will not let you do that. Unless you come up with an alternate way to mount them. It would still improve the amount of air you get, but not like opening it up to more of a straight line piping.

I just did my headlights in-situ with the 3M polishing kit. Took me an hour to do both and they look like new. I'm so impressed in how easy they were to polish. The thing to remember is that the lens have have a film coating on top of the plastic, this is what is actually deteriorating. You need to remove all the film first and then polish the lens. The 3M product works also well on paint.
u can use the devil horns on the oem if you mod them like i did.
mike if you look under the drivers headlight theres a brace set at an angle. i was able to place both my horns (one on each side of the brace) using the oem brackets and some bolts there completely out of the way of the rad. only need to clip the tie wrap holding the wires. they are plenty long. props to woody (as usual!) for this idea.

Yeah, after I said it I figured that you could find a way to mount them if you really wanted to. It would get more air to the OEM setup, but that is so restricted that you dont get all the benefit. I see you got rid of the factory tubes and mounts at the radiator on yours also. So that is not exactly 'factory'. But does get all the air up to the factory boxes. Did you consider going to the SL55 intake?

if you look close theres the hole already in the brace for the horns. (honking not devil!) you know woody has all the great ideas!
Remounting the horns was easy. Drivers side mounts to the PS cooling line point, passenger side mounts to a 1/4" hole already on the frame and tapped to 5/16-20. Then a little wire and some connectors. Done...
Here are pics of the slotted rotors with RED calipers on the SSB. I am still waiting for the aluminum intake tubes from TVT. I have a new fuel filter to install while I have the car on stands too..... that is the last thing to do uner the car, so I can put the wheels back on then...
Goodridge SS line installed too...

adding some more pics of the devil horn install... I did not cut the radiator supports for my install. This may not be optimum, but it works for me and should be getting tons more air than factory. The pass through is the same parts that are used for the NW Dual CAI. I just put the TVT snorkel tubes going to the SL55 boxes on the engine side and the NW devil horns on the front.

Mike that is a neat clean mod looks awsome ,,,No doubt more air. I like the way the horns are cut to contour with the grill ...... thumbs up for you
