Automatic transmission in a sports car!!!???
It's an AMG thing...AMG models are offered only with shiftable automatics...The SRT6 engine is straight from AMG as well as several other goodies.

I looked for quite some time for a performance vehicle, i.e. WS6, Z28, Corvettes, etc. and found most of them to be automatics. Surprising to me as I have felt a true sports car has a manual tranny. I need to find an autocross and see if I can slap shift my opinion of this automatic...
There are occasions it would be "fun" to have a manual, but 99% of the time, my Autostick does just fine for me.

Kosmo says you are a dumb ***...... Tongue hanging out the right side means autostick....... tongue hanging out the left side means manual. LOL
Oh wait....... You are blind and could not see his tongue. I think you need a seeing eye dog interpreter. LOL
Unfortunately, fewer and fewer "sports" cars will come with manual transmissions as standard, or even as an option. Most supercars have paddle shifters. In fact, the Scuderia has an option that allows you to floor the throttle in mid-corner, and the electronics will determine the necessary power to traction ratio that will allow you to exit a corner like a F1 champ.

You purist never cease to amaze me. Join the future, manuals are on the way out for a quicker shifting automatic. Plus it cuts down on cost not having two design to transmissions.
edit I can't spell today lol

Ahh the future. Us poor purist....wanting power to be tamed by our own hand instead of a push button. Damn! Where did that stinking remote get off to. KOSMO!

I think I'm finally understanding though, change is a hard thing to accept. You spent your life learning the inner workings of a manual transmission. You know what happens when you push the clutch, what happens when you move the stick into another slot, and what happens when you release the clutch.
I can understand not wanting to learn new technology, or having something taken away from you (clutch pedal). I see this sort of mindset all the time, some people think computers make life more difficult. Most of these people don't have the willingness to learn how to use them to enhance their lives or experiences.
