IAT sensor part number ?
Looked it up at Autozone and got two Edelbrock part numbers 3578 & 3588. Google shows cheaper prices at other stores.

Hmmm, pulled the sensor last night, the part number is A004 542 13 18, but when I try this on Benz online sites, zero parts appear.
As I don't have a MB parts dealer anywhere near me I was looking for parts online.
Anyone succeeded in buying one of these sensors ?
They don't seem to exist in any online catalogue, they list one for the C32 AMG, but not sure if these are the same.................anyone ?

Looked in the parts manual and it looks like on fig 08-605 #-24 intake temp sensor, mopar part # 5080343AA which has been changed to 4862635AA I think this is what your looking for.
I'm actually replacing the pump with a Johnson this weekend, I just wanted to have an IAT sensor handy, in case it wasn't the pump.
I suppose I could 'borrow' the sensor off my SSB, I thought it wouldn't be too hard to locate one online, and have a spare so to speak, but it's not that easy finding one.
The Xfire number above is good, but is $32 +, and in my experience the MB parts are sometimes cheaper, so I was looking on Benz sites.
They list an IAT fot the C32 AMG which is only $17, but I'm not sure it's the same.
Guess I'll break down and get the Mopar one as a spare ............... :O)

An easy way to test the IAT sensor is to plug it into the OAT sensor socket (on the DS lower front grill) and heat it up slightly (don't go crazy) with a heat gun or hair dryer....and read the temp on your dash...

Can you clarify for some one not so hip? What is a OAT sensor socket and a DS. I know where the lower front grill is and it is a help to see the photo. Just would like a little more clarification if you would. Thanks,

OAT = Outside Air Temperature
The OATsocket has the green and brown wires going to it. It is compatible (form-fit-function) with the IAT sensor.

Sorry to bring this thread from the dead, I was looking to replace my IAT and every Chrysler dealer I call they are asking $45+ for the part. Can anyone find the mb part number so I can check with the local MB dealers, or does anyone know where else I can purchase this for cheaper?
Thanks
Thanks
I do realize this is an old thread, but I needed a new IAT and used this thread to find the number. Unfortunately I did end up going with the Chrysler part# because I TOO never could find a GOOD Mercedes #... And of course, the Chrysler # gets you the same part, but a much higher price... Best I could find was $39.00 online.
I received the part today and found it still in the Mercedes box, and the original part # still visible. So for anyone who needs this part, save yourself the headache, time AND MONEY, what you need is a Mercedes:

Readily available under $20..
