The wing is the thing see ya in carlisle
I took my wing off to IMPROVE it and noted the rust. Used rust reformer to cover the metal rust on the wing. The trunk is ALL plastic and can not rust. Only the feet of the wing supports have metal inserts and thus the rust.
By adding a coat of spray, the rust is not an issue as shown in the photos. Hope you enjoy the photos. Woody

great idea Woody...I was thinking about the small LED lights used in the trucking industry on trailers...they are small and round....but, yours looks factory, nice job...
I will take a few photos of the wing on the car lite up for your eyes. It was more work the first time and I was wondering how it was ultimately turn out. Be sure to see the other photos in the gallery attached.

Great job Woody..... I got a little circuit that wires into the high break light so they flash three times then go solid when I hit the breaks......
I also pulled my wing yesterday, but for a different reason... I noticed water drips when I lifted the tail gate after the rain(I still have the lining out of my trunk space)...
I found that I had a tiny bit of rust on the wing bolts and just wire brushed them... the panel that the wing sits on was my problem.... there is a gasket that goes around the underside and it had slipped inplaces and was letting a little bit of water in.... I fixed it by adding the same black gasket RTV I used on the valve covers all the way around the factory gasket and around the bolt holes for the wing (to re-inforce the O-rings)....then tightened everything back down....

left over Harley parts, Mikey...lol...wait till next year's car shows...wiring in the "boogey" lights under and around the engine bay like the ones on the Harley, but that brake light idea is a good one as well, may think about that as well as whatever "the professor" has used as well...grt ideas
I would love to have a wing like Woody's.... but I am not as gifted at body work, so I hesitate to chop things up that I may have to replace.....
