No, you are fine running a CAI and a 178mm pulley without a tune.
You will need a tune to maximize the benefits of the combo however.

If you run a 181mm pulley, 185mm pulley or run a "stacked combo" 178mm pulley + a smaller supercharger pulley you HAVE to have a tune.

Install your 178mm pulley, with a new crank bolt and enjoy it!

Cheers,

I think Inmotion has an option to mail you the flash tool but you have have to put down a deposit just because the tool is exspensive.

I asked Rob about the whole new bolt thing, and apparently the stock bolt doesn't achieve full stretch anyways, so there's really no NEED for a new bolt on it.

Good to know. I was always told by other members that it was torque to yield and that I would suffer the consequences for reusing the bolt. I elected to use a new bolt....$10 dollars from the local dealership seemed like cheap insurance to me.

I do agree, given the size of the bolt how it would be a one time use, but was too afraid to chance it.

Thanks again for the advice!!

Cheers,
KrzyFast

No problem, I do agree with you, for 10 dollars you might as well get a new one. But I wanted to get my 178 on ASAP. Next time I have the front end off (hopefully going to be doing something crazy here soon) I'll be putting in a new crank bolt.
