CARFAX won't tell you everything about the car but is a ok starting point. A low milage SRT-6 coupe should cost in the $16K area. Good Luck

Depending on mileage, check on tires (cost a lot to replace). Condition of rims (no curb rash or bent) ..... any mods on engine?..original OEM air intakes or CAI .... both seats heat (bottom and backs).... if a roadster, check condition of top and back window for attachment and smooth raising and lowering of top, if a coupe check rear window heater .... check body and bumpers for dings and dents .... on test drive reset throttle and drive it aggressively to see how trans shifts .... check windshield for dings and cracks ....Hopefully it is not BLUE ! If car is priced at $8000 or less, and you pass let me know where it is!! Anybody else?

Take some time and look around just about all of the info you need is somewhere on this forum.

There's also a sticky that has a lot of basic info. Link anyone?

Here's the checklist I used when I was looking for a SLK32 / SRT6

(from various boards, some duplication)

Hope the attachment works.

It has 50K. Are there any major service requirements around this milage ie water pump, timing chain. Thanks again and we can't wait to join such a elite group of SRT-6 owners!

We brought home the new (to us) SRT-6 its almost perfect the dearlership has agreed to replace the interior door handles because the chrome is pealing off the back side of the handle. Also the panic button on both key fobs doesn't seem to be working. And the drivers side door doesn't lock when you lock it with the central locking button this button locks and unlocks the passanger door perfect. The drivers side door does lock when you use the key fob. Are I'm not 100% sure about this but there seems to be a huge lag in power under heavey acceleration once it shifts into 4th gear. Are any of these common issues? Thank for the imput. I'll say its one more time... WE LOVE THE CAR!!!

Welcome aboard! They are great cars.
The "huge lag" you are experiencing could be the intercooler pump going out.
They are easy to fix and a new Johnson pump is in the $150-$180 range.
I am sure someone else will chime in on this....stand by.

Since you just bought it, have the dealership check the pump to make sure it is working.

The car will go from Corvette like acceleration to geo metro like acceleration when the pump quits working to give you an idea.

Cheers,
KrzyFast

I have the same problem. kind of annoying, but I've decided to file it down and tape it, per suggestions on the board.

Otherwise, loving the SRT6 as well. (going on 3 wks)
