First generation C3 is notable by the notches cut across the grooves in the pulley, that run perpendicular to the grooves and appear periodically around the circumference of the pully contact surface.

Next generation C3 does not have the cross notches.

Not entirely true. My new gen came with shims. Setting the gap is crucial to proper operation... Some people just don't need more than the stock pulley. (Stock pulley has shims)

I have a 3rd. generation pulley which is aluminum. It came without shims, the clearance is wider than I've seen posted as correct but it works flawlessly. I don't plan on selling. Sorry.
I'll find where I have the info and post it here later.

According to the picture, it was a stock pulley.

I had bid on it yesterday and then all of sudden the auction was cancelled by the owner. I hope it wasn't cancelled because of a backdoor sale by someone on this board, that wouldn't be cool!

They were talking on a MB forum that it was a stock pulley and no one should consider it for that reason. I'm thinking someone asked why a stock pulley was being advertised as a Code 3.

I was watching that item too and was bummed when it ended early. However, if that was truly just a stock pulley, the seller was definitely wise to pull the auction. I asked the seller point blank to measure it and let me know whether it was the ~65MM (~2.5 inch) or the ~68MM (~2.75 inch) and he stated it measured about 2.5 inches across and it was the smaller Code3 pulley.

Since a stock one would measure about 3 inches, if it was a stock one, that would mean he totally gave me a B.S. reply and never measured the thing because there's no way you could mess up that bad when measuring and not be able to tell the difference between a 2.5" circumference and 3"!
