I purchased a Code3 from a board member...
and I have to say I'm not at all impressed. When I first checked out the unit, I did notice there was some play where the rivets attached to the back plate but I didn't really pay that much attention to it. It took me about 20 minutes to install and once I started the engine, the pulley was rattling quite loud at idle. I then removed the pulley and figured it must be the play so I decided to squeeze the rivets further to eliminate the play. Once complete, I re-installed and everything was fine.
What chaps my hide is the seller obviously knew there was a problem which I'm sure is why he sold it. How could he not, it rattled like crazy. I'm certain the average person not knowing the issue would have been really pissed off. Forturnately I'm an aircraft mechanic so I was able to repair. The next time this occurs, I will replace the rivets with shear hi-loks. A much better option.
Anyhow, as they say buyer beware....

the loose rivets were a known issue on the m/b boards. a few have fixed them but thats the wear and tear on the c3 or oem if its on the car long enough. unfortunatly this would be a wear item as they will loosen over time.
the ability to repair these may come in very handy for you as the c3 pullys in use are the only ones out there. figure your costs and ill be the first to use your new side job as a pully repairman!!
when mine wears down

I've read a number of posts on the topic in light of my recent pulley issues... I'd really like to know how you fixed yours, as crazy said. It'd be useful to know in a few years.
