Default Coolant Light Issue

I got the new alternator in yesterday by Chrysler and after them saying the car was running too hot and by replacing it that it will take care of the temp issue and my coolant light issue the light is still on and the car's temp gauge keeps going up to the H range.

Has anyone had their coolant light come on? My coolant level is fine right now. Im thinking maybe a sensor issue, but the i doubt it being the car is still running a bit hot.

Any suggestions? I'm taking it back in today to have them try and figure it out, but we all know about dealerships and their diagnostics

Thought maybe u guys would have some ideas so I can throw their way. Thanks.

Make sure they check out the FAN or the module that drives it..... if your temp gauge is showing hot and the coolant level is good then the fan may not be working right.. there have been several threads on fan failures..

The fluid sensor could be bad, but that wouldn't show the hot engine. Also check the connection of the sensor. Unplug it and re-connect to make sure it is on good.

Did you thank them for the new alternator??

Is this possible...

An alternator can cause a car to run real hot or overheat.

I'm thinking the only possible stretch for this is that it's seizing up (or bearings shot), even then I'm sure other electrical (or noise issues) would surface first.

What am I missing here (or did the Dealer pull a fast one)...
