Wow I got an ssb with 25k miles on it for that much. Thats a great price man! I went through the same process, and no one could help me out which sorta made the purchase more difficult, I sure hope one of these guys can help. Sorry that I can not help, I am in Texas.

Can't help you about the car but the price is reasonable. I paid $21k for mine with 8600 miles in Jan 2008 and I knew it needed a grand of body work to repair a door ding properly. Turned out to need rotors and pads, too, but it has run great ever since.

I'm about 55 miles away from the dealer. I saw that car advertised about a week after I closed a deal on another SSB SRT-6 Coupe in a private sale. Another of those awww shucks moments. Anyway, mine was $15,800 with 17,500 miles on it and the Nav radio. The one at Artioli has half the miles but no nav system. If you got them down to $17,000 that's an excellent price given that the car is in nice condition. I'd offer to go take a look for you but given that it's Easter weekend, I won't be able to take a ride up there until next Saturday. The CARFAX on that car looks to be clean although that's not an absolute guarantee. At this time of year, I wouldn't wait long to make a decision. I've seen a lot of SRT6's sold in the past couple of months. Tell you what, if you can get them to hold it for you til Saturday, I can take a run up there. Promise not to buy it out from under you!

BTW, how far away are you?

I live on Long Island. Long Story short, I drove up there two weeks ago to see the car. They had it listed at Grey(I took this as Graphite). I drove 150 miles and find out its SSB. Needless to say its still pretty clean. Small oil leak coming from the back passengers side valve cover. They said there Viper guy looked at it and its not leaking(then where did the oil come from?). Another forum member up in Connecticut is also getting rid of one. I'm going to look at his tomorrow and choose between the two. This would be my third Crossfire. I love the car, just afraid about a supercharged engine. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I know I have no posts, but been on the forum for a while. You guys are great. Also met a forum member here on Long Island. Wanted to get a test drive to make sure the other car is running ok.

The only reason to be afraid of the supercharged engine is that you won't want to drive sanely...

With low miles and good maintenance it should be nothing to worry about... if it's a choice between an NA and an SRT..... GET THE SRT!!

(Not bad mouthing you NA owners...I had one too...so no hate mail)

No need to be afraid of these FI engines. They were well engineered by AMG and they aren't running ridiculous boost stock.

It's a supercharger, not a turbocharger, so don't be worried. It's powered by the drive belt, not the hot exhaust gases.

My current SSB SRT is my second supercharged car, after my low boost Buick Riviera.

There are many worries to a supercharged car, but usually not anything inside the engine. Gaskets and seals go on any kind of engine and must always be addressed, especially on a boosted car. But the MB engines are largely bulletproof.

FWIW I paid about the asking price for a car with 50% more mileage than the one you looked at

Turbo's can be very reliable too. I had a Volvo 850 turbo for 11 years and 155,000 miles with zero problems. That engine was a 2.5L inline 5 cylinder. The turbo was tuned for low and mid-range torque rather than peak power at high rpm. It also had a "charge air cooler" or intercooler. Maintain a boosted car religiously and don't go screwing with high boost levels and my experience has been that the engines and boost systems are very reliable. Don't forget that superchargers and turbos have been on aircraft and heavy truck engines forever. Manufacturers have lots of data on component reliability and Mercedes didn't skimp on this engine.

schaweet! 4.5k is better than almost 8.8k (well, as long as it's not a 1/4 mile at a time. )
