Default Valve Cover Color?

So I am thinking of adding a little bling under the hood and adding some color to the valve covers. I have ordered the SS bolts from Rob for the valve covers and now trying to determine what color to go with. So chime in here. What are your thoughts on the color to go with. My first thought is Ferrari Red but maybe more of a stock look and going with black. Give me your thoughts on color.

I have an extra set so if anyone is interested once I complete this project I will have a set available.

You could send them to Rob and let him put that heat disipating gold on them..... with teflon interior....

Ruby has been getting the V8 intakes painted... I really like the yellow ones, on a yellow Crossfire.

oooooh oooooh, yellow would match my calipers on the Aero!!!

(FYI, Blue and Gold are Navy colors!)

Are you planning on powder coting them or just painting?
I have a powder coat gun coming, hopefully this week. I plan on doing my Valve covers plus anything else under the hood that looks interesting.
I would like to get a hold of those valve covers from you.
Mike
PS. you haven't mentioned what color your Crossfire is?

Not sure if I am violating any rules by saying this but if I am just delete my post I suppose.

If you want to powder coat them... send them to us and we will do them however you want. Single color, multicolor, lace.... whatever.

A black "Crackle" finish would make it look like 1/2 of a Ferrari V12.

The crackle look became fairly common on the SRT4s after they came out.

Anyways, back on topic...man, I wish I had more money.

The valve covers on my engine are black. Who wants to notice ugly valve covers under all the ugly electrical stuff.

So what kind of price are we looking at for the valve colors? Still have not decided on color but I am ordering SS bolts from Rob. They will "pop" on black, red, or another color. Maybe I should go with Acid Green like some of the limited Porsche's

With silver as an exterior color you could go with just about anything.
The right Yellow would look cool but for the timid you could always go with the red.

I bought a silver catch can from Rob and I think that finish he used would look really nice on valve covers.

I have a catch can on the way from Ron (I should have ordered one a long time ago) along with some other parts. So will check out the color of the catch can.

Maybe I should have them coated with the thermal barrier Rob uses. Might help keep the air boxes from getting so hot. Although I would have to paint over them - not a fan of the gold color.

The yellow could look cool but don't think it is for me.

The blue valve covers look good on the Neon.

Right now I am debating between Red, Black, and Silver. Someone was talking about the crinkle finish trapping any and all dirt so I may only want to go with Crinkle on the black.

The next piece of this puzzle is that I am going to get a set of Stainless Steel valve cover bolts from Rob. They will stand out more on either black or red.

SInce this is an opinion post, I'm partial to a nice flat-silver finish and then highlight the SRT6 with either black or red paint. I think oledoc did this, but I looked at so may XFs at the WWDC I cannot remember. I cleaned mine real well and painted them with hi-temp clear. Have not got around to the lettering as my hand is not that steady and anything less than perfect will upset my OCD care of the car.

Funny that those are not actually Valve Covers... LoL

I know I'm nit picking, but I was confused when I saw the thread title.

The cam/valve covers are hidden by our air boxes or CAI tubes.

Lastly for these manifolds, I would recommend the silver with black lettering too.

I'll probably be doing that to mine soon, although I'm going to mask a red box around the "6" and leave the 6 Silver.

Good luck... and show pictures when you are done.

At least in my case we are talking about the same thing. I am not referencing the intake manifolds bolted to the SC house but the actual valve covers. Thus no lettering in my case - simply looking for thoughts on the color. Fully realizing that the valve covers are a bit buried under the airboxes.

Well, in that case, I would still stick with the silver myself. There are some excellent engine paints that have a bright aluminum color to them and what bit would show would be fairly bright silver/aluminum in color.

If you have a CAI or dual CAI then you would see more of them. I was thinking of doing that to the valve/cam covers, intakes and the SC. The SC is going to be a bear with all those nooks an crannies though.

Good luck!
