Default One more exhaust question

Hey guys. Well i've been going back and forth with different ideas, based on different threads I have found on here.

Now i'm looking for a little more tone for my SRT6, and I dont have a lot of cash after just buying a Dual CAI, so my options are limited.

I have found a few threads on here dealing with different ways of achieving the results i'm after. We have:

Rear Cat Delete
Resonator Delete
Muffler Replace (i'm leaning towards the Megan MU-MRS if I go this route)
Muffler Delete w/ Wye Pipe

Now what do you guys think is the best option? After reading up, I'm actually leaning towards the Muffler Delete w/ Wye Pipe, for cost and ease. I would love to hear your opinions!

start with the res delete. then add cat delete then finally muffler delete. each step adds more sound and also more drone

Resonator delete if your just looking for sound, gives no added performance other then the weight reduction.

Rear cat delete won't be as loud as resonator delete but still provides a better note and slight performance gains due to reduced back pressure.

Goodluck.

John.

I LOVE the sound of my muffler delete on the roadster!

Go for it!

Yeah I'm not interested in power, just sound.

With the resonator delete, do I just need a 2.5" y pipe in place of it?

And tighed1, your the one who gave me the idea of the muffler delelte lol(w/ either the 4" wye you suggested or a magnaflow 2.5" wye with tips). I imagine a resonator delete would give more drone than the muffler right?

It's hard to chose with the lack of sound clips

Also, what is the easiest/cheapest for an exhaust shop to do? The resonator looks more difficult than a muffler delete.

I think Woody was the one that did the 4" wye pipe from Ford thingy.
I did mine in the driveway making the wye using 3" "U" bends. Then welded the stock tips to the wye.
I wanted to do the res delete but it looked like too much work.
When I dyno'd my cars (at a large car show) people were impressed with the numbers the coupe put down but I got more compliments on how the exhaust sounded on the roadster!
I'd do the same on the coupe but I like it as is in "sleeper" mode.

I also did the muffler delete. You drop about 34 to 40 lbs . At idle you don"t hardly notice are at low rpm. But when you put the car under moderate to heavy acceleration man it is great. Now i had a slight drone at 35 to 40 mph so i install a header insert into 1 exhaust tip and all is great.

What's a header insert?

And do You guys have any pictures of your setups?

I'm not sure which wye I'm going to go with, but a muffler delete seems eaisest, and in turn easy to reinstall in case I don't really like it

Car Chemistry Header Baffle Kit - Sound Performance - Street Rodder Magazine Here it is you can get one at any race shop they are usually cheaper than ebay! Also when you get one you may cut it in half and try one on each side 'are maybe just half of one on 1 side . they have several different dia. You will need to change your tips to round to use these.

Thanks for that!

I may just try and stop by a muffler shop today and see if they can remove the muffler and if they have a y pipe handy. And just try and reuse my stock tips.

Not sure I would like that particular one. But that's something along the lines of what i would like ( single unit with dual tips)

So looking at that, are the stock srt6 exhausts 2.5" Id?
