SRT is down... I repeat... SRT is down
Yesterday I was blasting around town, mostly highway pulls after work, doing some errands. On my way home the car started acting up like the throttle position sensor was screwed or a MAJOR vacuum leak. I was watching the timing jump from -25 to -38 to 8 and then sooth out, only to do it again minutes later. Idle speeds were really high and it would start surging. It has done it before and I had to turn the car off and it would be ok for a bit, then Disconnecting the battery would reset everything and clear things up. Not this time. I got the P0507 code (high idle speed)
, imagine that. The s/c is making a sqealing noise and lower idle speeds and then it just jump up to 2500rpms and surges. I had to drive the wifes van into work this morning and will start tearing into engine when I get home. Cheers for the long weekend.
I am really curious about the supercharger making noise, like a bearing is going out, but inside. Anyone have any heat wrap I can use for the intercooler while I have it apart, lol. I guess I will pull the intakes and charger and see if there is any evidence of malfunction. I am just hoping that a valve is not stuck or something. Opinions or advice would be helpfull.

Have you replaced the bearing in the s/c pulley? Part is less than $50 and you just need to take the pulley off and press in new bearing.
I did this as preventative maintenance.

My AIT sensor broke the clip holding it in on a hard launch...it wouldn't run, rough idle, lot of noise like something was coming apart....it took me awhile to figure out what had gone wrong, I was ready to tear into the engine when I started to take the CAI off, you could see it partly out...at least take a look...
I started by taking off the passenger intake and found the gasket soaking wet and some of the back side if it had blown out (thin part closest to s/c). The sensor looks ok, but will inspect more closely as I get down to it. cheers.
I have a question for anyone/everyone. As I was putting charger/intercooler assembly back on and tightening up, I noticed a hole that baffles me. You have your port holes that the charger/intake matches up to. Nice machined surface, put your gasket on and mate your charger. The driver side has an extra hole that is not covered by gasket or mated to anything (that I know of). What is it for? pressure/steam vent of some kind? Does it go anywhere particular. I am really curious about this and want to make sure I haven't forgotten some component or key application. Cheers
I called Steve to verify and yes its just a dead hole. I just thought since it was so pretty that something went there and I missed it. Thanks everyone for the help. I will hook up the fuel rail and crank her up tomorrow. Cheers
