Default No more racing the Aero for a while...

If you recall, I took the Aero out two weeks ago to test the Wavetrac LSD at the drags and got one run and had a hose clamp on the SC coupling come off...and threw P0300, P0306, P0304 misfire codes...

It seemed fine after I cleared the codes and ran fine coming home.... Then when I started it up in the garage it ran rough and I got the CEL and misfire codes again.... I replaced the plugs and swapped the coil pack from cyl 1 to cyl 4... no change... I checked the intake plenums and connections and nothing bad....so I took it to the local indie shop and he called me this morning... cyl 4 has 90psi compression and all others are 150... looks like I blew a head gasket.. he is going to call me when they get the head off so I can see what the cylinder/piston looks like.....hopefully just a gasket and put it back together and be fine....

But no more racing for me until I find a job and can afford to pay these Dr. bills for my car......

(I'll get pics when I go look at it tomorrow)

I hope and pray it's a head gasket! If it's not .......... doesn't Rudy have a few spare engines?

Hopfully it's a valve spring broken and not sealing the valve well. Good luck Mike!

If your doing a head gasket for gawd sake do both and add some coppercoat on the gaskets. I never build a motor without it. Woody Good luck on a job.

Woody, yeah I talked to the shop and he was thinking the same thing... that would be a pisser to have the other side go a few months later...

Still waiting for a call to go look at it with the head off....

yes sir, I think it's time for some different clamps on the those hoses...Mike, sorry to hear that, and yes, my second job pays for the toys....so I do understand....my second job is in jeopardy right now. They are cutting hours for all employees. So, I need to get these cars finished asap, before the money dries up. Hopefully all it is is the gasket...but running lean has caught up with others as well...

Doc, I dont think I have any damage due to running lean.... I have been mostly on the rich side and when I did see it was running on the lean side I quit running until I got the NW fuel kit... The shop also looked at the cylinder with a bore scope and didnt see any holes but said there was a couple of dark spots on the cylinder...
I also replaced the clamps with T bolt clamps on the couplers and on the CAI... shouldn't have anything coming loose or leaking now....

My shop was thinking I should go to bigger intake valves but I don't think that is necessary.... Rob's ported and painted heads would be nice to stick on at this point.... but that $$$$$ thing comes into play again...

I have a screening interview tomorrow.... that would certainly help..

What I should have stated Mike, is when the head gasket leaks near a cylinder, it can cause a lean condition...just don't know how long the motor ran this way, or how much damage would have been done...I am looking for those clamps, did you get yours on line somewhere or local...just no good speed shops near me anymore...good luck with the job interview. I have been asking for you as well...get you to move to the midwest....lol

Doc, I got my clamps at JEGS.... they do work really good!

I'll just have to wait to see what the piston/cylinder look like when they get the heads off. He said he didnt see anything obvious with the bore scope..
