It says it withstands rapid changes in temp.,no run,remains flexible & tacky @ high temps. "Racing Formula Dressing" sounds good to me.

 

NoNONO! That slippery blue stuff is going to get everywhere. The Copper coat is more like a tacky filler paint almost. Let it dry on the gasket, torque to 7ft pounds and be done with it! I pumped up my motor to 25psi no leaks. Yes, you get a slight discoloring around the edges of the gasket.

 

I'm hearing you Chris. Your testing to 25# w/ no issue says a lot. What are your thoughts on the "Copper"? Is it real copper in that spray? We don't need to worry about dissimilar metal? That was the only reason I was going to try the blue dressing (not to be confused w/ RTV). If corrosion is not an issue then I'll go w/ the proven copper spray method. Bob

 

I have had soo much trouble with the corks, rob is no-doubt ignoring my emails, lol. Torque is hard to get right on these, for me. If the threads bite a little then 5lbs or even 10lbs is clicking off and I am not even close to contacting my intake. The 3M spray does help with placement, but if your plenums are not seated properly then all is lost. they are holding as of now, but I know they are torqued too much. So another set goes on, if I can find them.

 

Dissimilar metals are an issue in the presense of an ELECTROLYTE, compound like water, or other conductive fluid that completes the circuit. Copper coat has copper to conduct heat, like copper filled epoxy, but its it passivated in the glue and there is no water in the compound. Ive used it for many DECADES on steel, aluminum and pot metal. WOODY
