Default Another SRT 6

Well, maybe not. Just following up with Mr. Mo's post. I figured I would do a little searching of my own and found another wrecked car. This one looks doomed though. Might make a couple dollars on it if somone can get it for the right price......

It is on my watch list. There are a couple others out there not on copart's lists. Will try to get their vins.

The one I just purchased has a COD title that precludes rebuild. The one in Illinois has far more damage, and has a salvage title. Go figure.

It appears to be in California (Mountain view Ca) with an Illinois title.

I am not aware of the COD title restriction in California ... the Salvage title rules even seem circumventable (here in California) as I have had 2 cars repaired by insurance that cost more to fix than they cost new ($15,000 in repairs on a $14,600 Miata and $3200 on a fiat that booked at $800) both had enough racing mods to make the repairs make sense to me.

Every state is different, but, it is the branding placed by the issuing state that determines what can be done. I only know one state where a COD title can be exchanged for a salvage title, and that is KY. However, the Florida COD brand would remain on the VIN history, and it could never be registered in Florida. Insurance company always has the right to waive their threshold to total, in some cases depending on the policy, they will go over 100% or more.

Sometimes instead of COD, it will be branded parts only. Same thing, non rebuildable.
