Default Random limp mode

My wife was driving this week and the car went into limp mode. Start up from a stop light no power. The car was fully warmed up.The idle was smooth. She pulled over turned the car off. Restarted and it was fine. I drove yesterday ,and could not duplicate the problem. The car had transmission service and leak fixed last summer. I had the Eurocharged sc pulley and tune for several weeks now. What should I look for? The cps problems seem to have rough idle associated with them could it still be this? 43000 miles on the clock. Thanks

My wife had similar occurrences with our 300, same basic transmission - NAG1, I could not duplicate it and thought my wife was wrong. I took the car out one day and it happened from the start. I had to drive it to the dealer in one gear. The trouble was in the valve plate or electrical plate, they rebuilt a solenoid and that cured it.

1st post! WooHoo! More then likely its ur speed sensor on your electric plate. Its only a matter of time before it goes out and ur in perma limp mode and you'll throw a CEL. I would start there and move to your TCU as well.

I know thats what happened to me. If its the electric plate or TCU ur gonna start experiencing limp mode on and off for a bit with no CEL. When the speed sensor completely fails ur gonna be in perma limp mode with a CEL. Like I said u might want to start investigating it a bit more before it happens because it sucks!

I was turning my car off in the beginning when it went into limp mode and back on corrected the issue for a short time and then the intervals kept getting closer and closer to the point i couldnt even drive a mile down the road before it went to limp mode.

I bought my plate new from a dealership on the East Coast for $278 which isnt bad.

Not 100% sure but I think this would also work : Mercedes Benz Transmission Conductor Plate 1402701161 - Volkstoy Motorsports

I actually looked at that same one, but I didnt pull the trigger. At the time I was in a bind and needed my car ASAP, so I didnt want any unexpected issues.

Could be worth a try.

Chrysler parts.
Various parts on the assemblies can be replaced or rebuilt individually, saves money you just have to know whats broken. The full size photo is in my album named parts.

Looks something like this.

I'm a recent SRT6 owner and member to this forum. I'm really enjoying my roadster and viewing the posts on this site. I've been reading about this limp mode issue and wonder how prevelent it has been with the 3000 or so turbo models produced. Is this something we will all experience sooner or latter? Does the summer heat cause it to occur? I live in Palm Springs, Ca. and wonder if anyone can recommend a good Crossfire mechanic in this area? Can a good Mercedes guy do most of the repairs? Thanks in advance for any info provided.

Only a few turbos as yet, super charged are quite plentiful.
Limp mode is not that common, all the problems are aired on this forum. Read this forum and you could get the idea every car was a lemon.

Thanks for the reply onehundred80,

I didn't understand you comment..."Only a few turbos as yet, super charged are quite plentiful". Aren't turbos and supercharged one in the same? Does the summer heat tend to expose this problem? Is the Supercharger assembly unique to the Crossfire or is it also on the Mercedes version of the SLK? Can a good Mercedes mechanic work on these Crossfires or are they too unique and differnt the the MB's? Anyone know a good mechanic in the Palm Springs,Ca. area?

Thanks for any and all input.

No codes but it seams to be common with this issue.Hopefully the plate will fix it. I really hate going to the dealer with this car. I usually have to take a print out from Crossfire.org and say try this guys.
