Default 2005 SRT dies

Help! My car comes to a stop sign and dies - completely, all things reset to a random spot - after 2.45 minutes, I can restart and proceed. The dealer has had it for a month and cannot replicate the problem. They said the oil was too full! Any ideas?

Search RCM or Relay Control Module repair and/or crankshaft / camshaft sensor.

Try the CPS crankshaft position sensor first. Sounds like your problem. Part is around $40.

I asked them about that and they said they checked it. However, I just spent almost $600 - they replaced the fuel filter, oil, oil fiter and some kind of leaky sensor on the transmission. I have more horsepower and the surging at 65 every 5 miles now doesn't start until 70. Small victory. They put over 200 miles on it trying to replicate the dying problem and it didn't happen. I could have gotten my 60,000 mile service for what I paid for, basically, an oil change! I will ask them again if they really checked the CPS crankshaft position. I just love my car and this is the first thing that has gone wrong. Dealers . . . .

Re only 2 posts, I can't find my way around the forum. I am old and blonde! And, after 2 years I finally figured out the V-Rod forum and now have over 100 posts on it. I'm learning . . slowly!

This forum has the best help for our cars sans none. Any problem you are having, discribe it best you can and someone will chime in with things to check. Many things are easily checked and most are very inexpensive. I would not reccommend going to the dealer, they make all their bills off your wallet/checkbook. Give the folks here a try, you (and your bank account) will be glad you did.

Don't tell them to check it (CPS) have them replace it!
May or may not solve the problem.
Part is only $40 or so.

So what's wrong with being old and blonde!???

I will, thanks. What's another $40? Perhaps they will take pity on me and do it for free!

Old, blonde, short and female - I'm loving it,not a thing wrong from my view!

Re don't go to dealer, it will void my warranty. Perhaps I will go to a different dealer though.

Did you say surging at 65 or 70 mph? That sounds like the common intercooler problem. Usually it is a loss of power when the intercooler gets too hot, and then when it cools the car works normally and the normal power feels like surging.
