Here's another. The OEM is on the left. I noticed that 3 of the 6 rivet heads are crooked, not square to the plate or pulley. You can see the press marks where they were struck out of center, which would cause this crooked head. Perhaps this is what is causing the bind.

It makes one wonder what the long term durability of these pulleys will be. Mine has had some of the same issues not as extreme but very similar. Every time I check the clearance it is different. It appears that there should have been another backing plate in the middle to stabilize the disc.

Is the EC pulley different in design, maybe the Code 3 pulley was the same and use the spring to do the driving?
Those buttons on your OEM pulley may appear to be attached to the clutch plate, but they are not. As you mentioned, they are spacers. The driving is being done by the spring bars. These plastic (or teflon?) buttons are loose and will actually fall out when I pull it apart. In that pic. they were just out of the hole a bit and cocked to the side, but they fall readily back into place. These are not the problem; it's the spring bars and the rivets as I see it.

I wonder if its something as simple as the fabricator forgot to temper the springs?

That shoots big f'ing holes in my theory. I remember now that came up in the Code 3 discussions back some time ago.
I'll erase my original post.

I've been talking w/ Jerry @ EC, and he's being good about it and will get to the bottom of it. Judging from the feedback here on the Forum, it looks to me that not everyone is having an issue; it may be that mine and a couple others were made on a Friday at 4:30p.m. jk

Would I be correct if I remembered the OEM spring being one part with the three spring fingers attached, instead of three separate parts as the EC one appears to be?

I can't pull the OEM apart far enough to tell for sure(very strong spring action) but it appears the two are made the same; three separate "spring bars" I call them.

What is being done? I do not want to miss out on anything even if I live across the pond...

I could swear I saw a photo of the spring and it was a one piece component.
The secret is the spring, its strength and the accuracy of its riveting. They cannot fight one another at all.

I have put shims in and installed it yet again but the sound is still there. I have emailed EC asking for a replacement. Any news from your parts?

Just installed the EC SC ver 2 pulley and it works so far flawlessly. No strange sounds and the performance is still there

FUBU are you in Florida? I can't understand why EC has not sent out CJ's replacement pulley, his was returned long before yours?

As I only have the EC SC ver 1 pulley I had to order one at once when I heard the problem,I did that but had to pay a guarantee and now send my back ver 1 to get refund. I instructed EC that long time ago. But the most important is that all will get one. I am sure they are doing everything they can do to send them out. Call them and ask them again.

i noticed the rivets look smaller, are they the same material? why you would use a rivet that rusted on an moving automotive part is beyong me. i was shocked when i brought the car out of storage(only had 1000 miles on the pulley at the time) and they had rust on them
