Default Another one bites the dust

Hello fellow forum memebers,

Just wanted to say I lost my little toy , she went curb hopping a week ago last Sunday, My Isurance co. did total the car, but still has a lot of great parts left. The bad is three wheels, the front fascia, fog lights, and the oil pan all got hit during its flight, but the rest of the car is still very salvagable. I'm in Michigan the TRI COUNTY area of Detroit, my insurance company was Grange, not sure who they sell their totals to but it may worth looking into. Car has only 25k miles. Also I wanted to say this has been a really great forum and a great group of folks who are always willing to help out, I'll still stop in a check up whats new in the forum, but now I will be going to one of the Dodge Charger forums. My new replacement is the Black on Black SRT 8 6.4 HEMI, and all I have to say is what a fantastic car thus far . Well hope all of you keep enjoying the xfire as much as I have .
Thanks to everyone,
Kevin

Nice to hear that you are okay at least. See you in the rearview mirror?

Terribly sorry to hear of your loss... Insurance companies are all-too-quick to kill these things.

Is there any chance I can nab the Mopar Diffusers off the rear fascia? PayPal ready, if so.

Yes I was OK, just my pride, first time in the 6 years that I had it that I could not keep her tight, it was a shame to see her go but this 2012 Charger SRT 8 helps ease the pain some And to all the Insurance co, did take the whole car, so I did not have the chance to keep it. They gave me 16k for it which I used as the down payment. The Crossfire was one of the few cars I really loved.

Yes, and I will get one sooner or later. I will definitely be looking for this one. But keep in mind it could sit in limbo for 1 to 2 months. If any one sees on IAAI or Copart, let me know.

If I can get the vin, it would help, also color.

I have to agree here. Really glad everyone's ok. Akky's suck.

On the other hand, I drove a 2011 Challenger SRT8 6spd and it's going to take a lot of modding to get that huge car out of the hole. They sound great though.

Bummer on the loss of the car. Glad you were able to walk away and live another day.

Glad to know you are ok, it's too bad about the Crossfire. Sadly, there is one less.

I hope that the driver of this crossfire was not one of ours. What a foolish thing to do 140 mph trying to outrun the police. I know we say drive it like it is stolen....but, that is just a saying. Unless in this case it may be found to be true when they identify the driver.

This is an old thread but a new news story.

It seems that some people will never learn. You used to be able to outrun the cops in the 60's and 70's (Smokey and the Bandit) but this is 2012.
With the instant communication between dispatchers, local and state police ( not to mention helicoptors), that once a police car is behind you, you're screwed. Just give up and take what's coming to you.

I believe it's actually worse if you have a performance car. The extra acceleration only means you're going to hit the bridge pylon that much harder.

I'ld imagine we'll find out if this guy was a forum member when they identify the remains.

Thank you for all the replies, the sad thing was I was not even doing 25 mph when she fish tailed and then caugt the pavement and sent me towards a huge Huntinton Bank sign, a fire hydrant, and a light pole. Well I did not hit the hydrant nor the sign but knocked the pole right off its base, and the base was what took out the oil pan, 8 quarts of Mobil 1 was bleeding out of her, after I shut the motor off. So the engine is still in perfect condition at time of accident ? the car still had better than 75% good parts left on her so I really was hoping that some one could get it for a parts car, or even fix it up. But it does not sound like anybody has Well the charger so far has been a blast to drive and own, and its fully loaded with all the toys, and really has eased the pain of loosing the my baby. I will try to take some pics and post them when I get some extra time through these holidays. I wish everyone here on the forum to have a great Thanksgiving and a happy Christmas.

Again this has been one of the best forums I have joined, and a really good bunch of folks here.

Kevin

False, SWIM outran cops a few times, usually they were sitting in a trap on the middle divider, once you're already doing 70-80 in a fairly quick car, there is no way they are catching you if you punch it, get off the highway and make a few lefts, park the car and go for a nice long walk, they always look in 1st exit, 1st right and so on, the path of least resistance so to speak. My friend with a 700whp Supra would blow by a cop in a trap while doing 80, slow down so the cop actually closes in a bit and then just punch it and in a few seconds no more cop. his crazy *** would actually turn around if he saw a cop in a trap trying to get somebody going in the opposite direction just so he can lose him, best adrenaline rush ever.
