Going to inject it with water/xxx
I'm installing an AES injection kit sometime this week. (Devil's own is out of stock) That's the plan anyway. I can't control the ECT's or IAT's to my satisfaction on track and want my engine to live a long and powerful life. I'm hoping the water injection will take care of the heat without costing me power. The plan is: have a safe 93 octane tune and spray mostly water for cooling. Pre throttle body at first and if that isn't satisfactory then I'll start moving the nozzle around or have others installed. After the instal I have dyno time scheduled to play with the mixture, nozzle size, when it activates and when it's spraying at maximum flow. I realize spraying pre supercharger will lessen the effectiveness by cooling the I/C fluid before reaching the engine but the water shouldn't flash to steam before reaching the cylinder head. I should also see increased boost from the water sealing the rotor gaps in the supercharger. The shop has pure methanol and depending on what we see on the dyno we have the option of trying pure meth, pure water and everything in between if warranted. The process of finding what works could take awhile. I'm committed to giving it my best shot. Wish me success.

Sounds like a lot of work with a dyno and data logging ahead. I've seena youtube video of a guy that installed meth injection (the only other person that I know of) but haven't seen/heard of any results.
Thanks again for pioneering new possibilities.

make sure you have at least 3 failsafes in place les. running water for cooling isnt to bad but anything else will require a specific tune to allow it to work properly. if the system fails for any reason the tune will have you running massive timing and detonatiuon will kill the engine quickly. the same is true if the valve sticks open flooding the cylinders with meth when the car is shut down
No meth tune for me. That's the reason for staying with the 93 octane tune that I already have and adjusting the water/meth/alcohol mixture. I got a recent retune that was supposed to richen .5 across the board. I'll verify the retune before testing the water injection. To be on the safe side I'm running with 100 or 104 in the tank at the track. It's expensive gas but cheap insurance. The controller has a light that's on when it's spraying and I plan on figuring out how to set an AFR alarm sound with the Zietronix Dasdaq combo.

Sounds good Les and good for you running racing gas at the track. That's what I do everytime I drag race as a precautionary messure. Good luck and can't wait to see your results.
I'm very excited you're pulling the trigger on a meth kit. I'll be watching like a hawk, and if you have success I'll be placing an order within days. I was seeing 170F IAT's today on a 120MPH pull.
I totally believe in doing the same thing, the water will be evaporated in the supercharger due to the acceleration of the rotors and the compression of the air mass. It will still liberate the same about of cooling , just its a shame to cool the air before the I/C. It would be best at the wye pipe or in that area, so that the cooling helps more, still I agree with the sealing of the rotor seals with the water. Woody
Les, I look forward to hearing about your results as well. The AIS system is the one I chose to use also, but haven't managed to pull the trigger on it yet. It is why I modified to a rear/sideways mounting of my little Shuriken battery and tray pad; to make room for it. I'm looking to start w/ a 10g.p.h. nozzle @ the intake y (pre t.b.), and then (1)- 3g.p.h. nozzle @ each intake mani. neck for additional cooling. Real glad to hear your taking the plunge and going forward w/ it.

Yep. Good advice. Mrphotoman does road course racing with a warer/meth setup. Here is a thread where he talks about the nozzle size and water/meth mixture he uses when on a road course. Post numbers 48 and 52:

Alright....someone else joining the meth clan.... Don't ever mention pure meth...Les... Never should go beyond a 50/50 mixture. I am going Snow.. You know Snow...Meth... sounds addictive doesn't it? Rudy is getting that job...but looks like June before I can wrestle him down...here...so I will watch what you do... I am mounting mine by the shurykin battery as well... Should get interesting.
I've been thinking and talking about it long enough don't you think? Heck, I PM'd MrPhotoman in 2010 and he told me his experience with it.

yeah, I remember. I was talking with Devil's Own in the beginning, but Rudy already has this set up he needs to get rid of. The pump and nozzles are what are important. I am glad I waited, as the new pumps don't pulsate, but stream very steady. Should help you a lot. A lot simpler to set up for drag racing, yours will take a little trial and error...to get you where you want to be. I am still fabricating a mount for the battery, pump, tank sort of thing....I will be watching and learning...
Yep, I searched the Devils Own forums and found your questions, answers and MrPhotomans too. THANK YOU CROSSFIREFORUMS.ORG for teaching me how to search! I can't remember who bitched at me first about searching but thank you ...... belatedly ... Jerk!

The cars still in the shop. I haven't forgotten.

I just got off the phone with the shop and the meth kit is installed, the front wheel bearings too, the differential is still on the bench. I'm having the side bearings changed and the clearances checked. (singing gears) Apparently everything looks fine, no metal filings and the oil was clean. I'm betting it won't be completed until Saturday. You know how it is, when I spoke with the owner the shop was empty but when I took the car it was overloaded.
