#1. We obviously know the story of the lead off car. Agreed. #2. Never rode in either of them, but heard negative things about their build quality. #3. I thought it was a nice pickup. There are quite a few in these parts. #4. Drove one and agree with the author. #5. I've heard nothing but good things about this car. #6. They finally worked the bugs out of it and the '93 (last year) is well regarded. #7. Drove a rare '91 model and thought it was pretty well put together. #8. Again, drove a '91 and thought it was a nice Lebaron. #9. There are quite a few of these running around here. I always thought what's the point?. #10. The Avanti is an awesome car. The author could have easily picked something else.

I'd gladly own anyone of those cars. I almost purchased a Buick Riatta for my Daughtrer when she got her drivers license. If I had been a Ford guy, I probably would have picked up a Bird.
If I had the money, I 'd really enjoy a Pontiac Solstice "Coupe". And for nearly 50 years I've been in love with the Avanti.

While halo cars may look heavenly when they are conceived, as often as not they end up as fallen angels. They are dismissed as automotive curiosities that failed to capture public imagination, while creating an effect exactly opposite to the one they were designed for: damaging brands rather than lifting them.

Not the case of the Crossfire. The original price is what drove the customers away. MB and all their restrictions is what is responsible for damaging the Chrysler brand.

Bummer. Our resale values have been hovering around the same price range for 3-4 years now so thats a good sign.

Number one tarnished halo car omitted by the Yahoo! author: the Imperial, whether as a separate division of Chrysler or with a Chrysler badge. No halo car was ever so badly treated by its manufacturer.

Usually Halo cars end up with a Cult following and become more popular when they were actually released..

Yep. I was thinking the same thing. Basically, this is a GOOD list for your vehicle to be on.

It's not really a list of cars with fundamental flaws or failures. (If we wanted to do that type of list, I'd expect to see cars like the old Chevy Vega and the Yugo on it.) Rather, it's just a list of cars that manufacturers released to the market with poor timing, or with poor pricing, yet they were otherwise promising and "attention getting" in some manner.
