Rear Tire Size Photos
Re: Rear Tire Size Photos
I don't have enough miles on the hankooks yet, only 4,000. I feel like they are a little slippery when cold, but I don't have enough driving experience to give good feedback. What does crap mean in this scenario? Loud, rough, wear down too fast? Thanks!
Re: Rear Tire Size Photos
Today I went to the tire shop to install the 295's. They did not fit.
Perhaps they could have fit, but it looked like he was in pain beating the crap out of my rim and tire to get the 295 installed. I couldn't bare watching any longer and I told him to stop and just keep the stock 255 until I buy another tire
Are the 285/30/19 going to fit easily if you have experience in this?

I haven't had them for very long, but I just put Falken 452's on my SRT and they are quiet and very grippy. I can't imagine going faster than they are capable of. I had some very, very crappy NangKangs that were downright scary in the wet. The Falken tire was reasonably priced; 2 rear 255/35/19's for $450/mounted/balanced + tax. I was watching the ALMS race last year where it started to rain and the Falken Porsche went from 5-6 place to the lead and won when everyone put on the rain tires. I know that there is a big difference between race and street tires, but that made me want to give them a try. Performance in the rain is my #1 consideration. My reasoning; if the tires are great in the rain, they will be good in the dry. Maybe wrong about that, but that is how I judged these tires. Who knows how they will perform w/10k miles on them? I would just be guessing. I also have to get the rear camber problem fixed first. If the suspension isn't right, even a good tire can seem bad.

Amen to that. Or what I mean is, I would like to know this aswell.
Re: Rear Tire Size Photos
I don't think it's normal or safe. This is why wider rims are made. A 285 is pushing the limit IMO. It's like a fat man squeezing into a pair of pants that are 3" too small. It'll work, but your gonna be hanging out, and eventually the button may pop off. Don't ask me how I know this. Sorry, but I don't have any pictures either.
Re: Rear Tire Size Photos
I dont have any good pictures just ones while racing, I know it worked, drove about 500 miles on the set and raced 4 or 5 events with no issue

Given original spec AMG SLK32 tires are 632mm diameter with this engine diff and tranny.....but the SRT6's are running 18's and in this last case 19" with 255/40's = 687mm or 9% larger....ie: 9% larger rolling circumference - does this change the output and performance of the car? Is bigger (not wider) necessarily better.
I'm initially thinking - yes - slightly more rubber on the road since the footprint would be possibly 9% longer.

General G-Max 275/35-19 on rear of N/A. Will be installing the same on the SRT. Best tires yet and I've run them all (Goodyear, Hankook, Falkin, Toyo). Fitment was no problem!

I went with Nitto Invo tires: 305/30/19 on the rear. They have approximately the same number of revolutions per mile as the stock tire, so no issues there. They are 1.2 inches wider than the stock tire which gives them a nice beefy look and better grip. They fit on my stock wheels but were difficult for the shop to get on the rims because of the low profile (not much to work with). If you want to go with 305s you should consider a shop that has a heater designed for tires where they can heat the tire before placing it on the rim. Now I have Mandrus 20" wheels on the rear which fit my 305s with greater ease. They look almost identical to the stock wheels but have are wider. Not all 305s are the same, so I can only recommend the Invos.
