My advice is to move to a cooler state, like MI. But be prepared to park it in the winter when it feels like -130F.

-36 in New York as well. Time for a new sensor. Picked one up on ebay for $17. I hope it solves the problem.

That sensor does more that just drive the inside display, it is also used by the PTCM for timing and fuel injection settings.

Sir, thank you for the information . The more reason to get it swapped, so that it doesn't affect other functionalities.

I could be wrong but I think not, not one problem with the engine has been recorded with this sensor failing. It goes straight to the dash cluster. The actual reading from it does depend on other factors, as per the earlier post but it does not effect the engine.

Once again Dave's right, I'm wrong.

I checked the manual after posting the reply just to make sure. Thankfully my memory is still more or less OK.
On the Sixty Minutes program last night they had some people who could more or less remember what they did everyday of their life so far. One guy even imagined a basketball team and played games in his head and remembered all the games and all the scores and records. Amazing to say the least.

I finally replaced the sensor and now the temperature display is accurate.

George/180, don't get me started on failing memory... There are a few stories about Vietnam POW's playing entire seasons of games in their heads (distracting) for years at a time. I just cannot fathom some of the coping skills these guys had to come up with. mind boggling, to say the least!
