My wife worked in that business for many years and she figured at least half the salesmen suffered some form of handicap. Many of them knew nothing about any particular car model and just read the brochure on it when you asked about it.
The car salesman’s job is going the way of the Dodo, you’ve looked at the cars and know what you want when you enter the sales room doors, how hard can it be to sell you the car you want? It is just about how much it costs and if the price is non negotiable you’ll know already. Finance it over the internet and the car is yours. No overheads for floor space, no salesman or sales managers commission.
In a few years Amazon and others will have them on sale and delivered to your house the next day, hopefully not in a bloody big box left on your door step.😉 You can do it these days but not as smoothly as it will be.
Ding Dong, Amazon calling.
180 Covid19 and the Millennials started this trend and finally landed at the doors of the auto dealerships. That's why all of the "internet" car suppliers have flourished and will continue to thrive (Carvanna, Vroom, etc). The majority of car buyers are less than intelligent, this is what the dealer sales staff is counting on to make a killer sale. Regardless of the product being sold, the sales staff does not do their homework to know the product they are selling.
Just my 2 cents.... Dennis

My wife said that many car buyers went from dealership to dealership trying to get approved for a sale or lease. They opted for the best price and car they could get, they were not set on a particular brand, just the best of what they liked at their credit limit. Naturally it had to be new if possible. They paid the highest interest rates to special credit company’s, one missed payment and the car was gone in a flash, some took to parking the car in varying out off sight places, no problem, they were followed and Poof the car disappeared.
A guy I knew a long time ago repossessed cars, he said at times it got scary. Luckily he was a bear of a man which kept things down a bit, but he was a putty* cat at heart. He said towing the car away with the former owner chasing the truck down the street at night was always a laugh.
*You cannot say pu ssy cat.

Hello Dennis,
Thank you! It's been a long time I had wanted another XC, but this time a SRT-6 (aka Betty).
Do you have listing of 2004 XC? I'm wondering if my previous XC is around. VIN:4X003065.

A database of VIN#'s for all other Crossfires does not exist, due to the volume exceeding 72,000+. Since Chrysler refused to provide a complete listing, it has taken 15+ years to track down 2,544 SRT6 VIN#'s, representing 68.2% of those manufactured.
You may want to input the complete 2004 Crossfire VIN# into Google, it may show where the car is at this time, no guarantees.
Enjoy your SRT6.... Dennis

Another option would be to run a Carfax on it. It may not tell you where it is, if it is no longer driven, but if it is currently registered, or if it was written off, then it should give you a clue on where to go.

Definitely not easily repairable. I sent one to the boneyard this summer with very similar damage. Once the control arm gets pushed back, the entire welded in crossmember is bent. Once that has occurred, the story is over.
On a side note, my son's 04 black coupe, with mostly superficial damage will likely be totaled. None of the parts are available new. Not a thing. Add the scratches that hit half the body, meaning a full repaint, that car, which is driving 60 miles a day right now, might very well wind up in one of these auctions.
Oppix56 Thanks for another new find for the database, too bad its a lower mileage SRT6. This one brings our total to 170, 2005 models. I'm sure there are many more, maybe double the number we've collected.

Coparts reporting "undercarriage" damage. Here are the parts needed, front bumper cover, suspension, passenger fender, passenger door, rear quarter, possible exhaust (misaligned) + other unseen damages. This is a parts car, costs out weighs the repair value, also Branded Title scenario. Dennis

He had that SRT6 listed on another site For Sale about 1.5 to 2 years ago as well. I believes he owns 2 other ones as well. The car looks to be in great condition, the bidding is low for that car at this time. I've seen other coupes with similar mileage going for $20-$25K on other sales websites.
I surely hope he gets a greater return.....
Thanks! Dennis
