So, the Chrysler dealer that currently has the car in the shop is not the same dealer that is selling the car, correct? Have you found out why the car needed to go to the Chrysler dealer yet? Even though (normally) Chrysler dealers know very little about these cars. Just curious.

It's not for sale at the Chrysler dealer, it's being worked on at one. With a week of service at a Chrysler dealer, it was probably under water from Hurricane Sandy... Still many problems occurring here in NJ cause of the flooding.

I can only imagine.

Although, I would think that if you directly asked the dealership if it was flooded (or suffered any other type of hurricane damage), they would have to tell you, wouldn't they?

Looking at the CARFAX that is dated today, it shows nothing about being flooded and you would think that after 2 months the report would have something if it was needed. Maybe go talk to the Chrysler dealership that has the car now and see what they are finding.

I don't know, man. Just kind of thinking out loud. Would hate for you to miss a great deal but it would be worse to make an ill informed decision worth that amount of $$$.

As always - good luck - hope it all works out.

Yeah. The guy I talked to today was not happy I called about the car. Short answers, "Yes, no, maybe, I don't know."

Things you don't want to hear, ya know? Maybe the Subaru Legacy I was looking at will be better.... I don't know. Ahh!

Man, that price sure sounded too good to be true......would hate it for you if it was a flood car. Totally forgot about the fact that the used car market will be "flooded" with them! Sorry about the pun.

Hi guys newbie here
I am also from jersey looking for a srt. I went to look at this car about three to four weeks ago. They told me the same thing, it's at the shop and should be here in a day or two. Well after calling for three weeks in a row I finally said to them I need to see the car to make a decision between their car and another srt. They went to where ever the car was got it and brought it back to their place for me to test drive. So here's the deal , they told me that the passenger air bag light was on and they couldn't find the problem and their mechanic had to buy a special code reader to find the problem . Anyway I looked at the car it was definitely a daily driver , the car has many nicks, scrapes and small dents on both sides. Their was so small rust spots here and there. The wheels had curb rash, the interior was pretty clean but the motor area was really really dirty. Looked like nobody really cared for this car at all and just drove it. The test drive was ok , drove straight breaks stopped straight , no lag , steering pretty tight and no major rattles. Motor sounded good nothing that really jumped out at me. I passed on the car because I am looking for something low mileage and mint but for the price decided to take a look. Well hope this helps alittle, I know how it feels to want to see something and get the run around.

So, it was beat up a bit? I do not plan to have this as an antique, but for fun! But no major problems besides the airbag light?

I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling here. I know these cars tend to be a mystery to Chrysler dealers (because they are not Chryslers), but still.... be careful.

Yes, I agree with you. Maybe they don't see the button which turns the airbag on and off!

If i was buying this car for fun then maybe, they just buy these car at actions and try to flip them fast and as cheaply as they can. The guy their told me they sell 300 cars a month, and mostly to out of state peolpe. People meaning most dont even see the car til it arives at their door step. I would be very careful here to be honest with you, I think for a little bit more money you could have alot nicer car with alot less problems. Trus me been there done that buying cheap cars and then have to put in thousands to fix them right, in the long run its not worth it.

Well joe I can help you with the air bag light. It has to go to a dealer that has the " Star" system diagnostic equipment. It is the only equipment that will turn it off. Now the question is "Why did someone unplug an air bag? You do not want to buy a water damaged car. Let alone salt water damaged car. The electronics will be toast in no time. Hopefully it is the air bag light if you have car inspections in jersey.

As I understand it, they just did away with inspections. Now it's emissions only. -Or so I'm told.

Well; someone bought the car and the dealer was shipping it west.

Maybe one day I can join your prestigious group. Guess I'm getting the Subaru.

Enjoy your cars guys, they're all amazing.

I still say you didn't want that car.

And there are a LOT of them for sale! Here on this forum, there is an ever-rare Oyster Gold Roadster with VERY FEW miles on it for $15,000 !
Ya couldn't go wrong there! And you'd be the only Oyster Gold car at most GTGs!

JoeC don't give up so quickly. Check out the cars for sale section in this forum. Several cars with owners that are known to many members. Best way to get a good one . One just outside of Atlanta for $13k. If you see something you are interested in there is probably a member close enough to check it out and give you a reliable report. Good luck.

The one big kid is telling you about is a great buy at 13k and a great looking blk coupe. I was close to buying it but you and I are on the same budget. We need to steal one. Me because I have 2 and don't really need 3. You because you are young and that is a lot of cash. lol.
